Customer Reviews
Overall:
Beautiful, large castle in a picture perfect location that seemed like something out of a Tuscan fantasy.
Enjoyed Most:
The views from every direction almost seemed orchestrated, but were gorgeous. The location certainly offered a wonderful diversity as it had proximity both to nearby Firenze, but also to the FI-PI-LI highway which allowed quick and easy access to the beach along the Tyrrhenian Coast and points in between. Not to mention that just wandering the back roads of Tuscany and discovering the charming towns was a completely amazing experience.
Enjoyed Least:
Perhaps the fact that it seemed very 'hotel' like and that there were a large amount of other tourists and families staying there. It was a beautiful place, but if one is looking for a serene, sedate location, this is not it.
Also, the Wi-Fi issue comes up again. The only location where it worked was the great hall outside the reception office and only when the staff remembered to leave it on. There was always a crowd of us gathered around the giant King Arthur sized table surfing and trying to avoid mosquitoes. Thankfully it did not cost anything, but might have been nicer in the rooms or out by the pool.
Surrounding Area:
The sheer beauty of the countryside and how a region could seemingly change character with a few turns and going over a couple of hills. Not to mention that Firenze's greatness was literally a quick, easy ride away. Add the free parking up on the Piazza Michelangelo and not having to take a car into the city and it was heavenly.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Technically, Montagnana was the nearest town, but it was barely more than a few buildings and Cerbaia was the largest 'near' town.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring mosquito netting and duct tape if coming in the summertime with the sweltering heat and killer mosquitoes. Nearby Cerbaia and San Casciano were amazing little places to get quality food at very low prices without breaking the bank.

Views and peace.

Bring a travel iron and good maps.

Enjoyed Most:
The views were amazing - exactly how we had imagined.
Enjoyed Least:
It was really cold at night and there was no heating allowed at the time we were there. Bed was also very hard and uncomfortable and the blankets kept slipping off.
Surrounding Area:
So close to everything. Loved exploring the towns and cities of Tuscany.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Baccaiano. Fairly easy to walk there but to get back is uphill all the way and would be pretty exhausting.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant in the castle is excellent and very convenient! Bring warm pyjamas and bring a radio if you can't handle the peace and quiet!! We weren't aware that there is a bus from Florence that goes right past the castle until we got there. Trying to navigate our way out of Florence in our rental car was a nightmare!!! The car definitely came in handy to explore the rest of Tuscany, but wasn't necessary like we were lead to believe. You could have gotten around by getting a bus into Florence and then a train out to other towns.
