Customer Reviews
Overall:
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the property was very well-maintained. We would recommend staying here to others. We quickly realized, however, that some of the other apartments offered views of the surrounding area and also private terrace space-- something we will keep in mind next time.
Enjoyed Most:
Quiet, well-maintained outdoor space. Large rooms inside the apartment, well-stocked kitchen for cooking. The castle itself was probably the best part--it's wonderful to explore the gardens.
Enjoyed Least:
Our apartment offered a view of the courtyard but the windows were low so you would have to be sitting down to see outside. Several windows did not have bug screens and there were mosquitoes. The rooms are quite dark and the lightbulbs were low wattage so it was difficult to read.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed touring the wine roads, stopping in at local vineyards and sampling the olive oil. The area was quiet and very picturesque.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town is within walking distance, but the shops kept irregular hours and there wasn't a full supermarket. We would drive the 9 kms to a town that offered more amenities and a large supermarket.
Tips or Restaurants:
Essentials, such as dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, bug spray, toiletries, etc. are not provided. These items, in addition to groceries, must be purchased.
Directions:
We used GPS; it would have been difficult to navigate otherwise.

Overall:
Wonderful. Like living in a fairy tale. You have to explore all of the areas of the castle to really appreciate all that it has to offer. Even with people around it was still a quiet atmosphere. Great place to relax and get away from big city life.
Enjoyed Most:
We especially enjoyed the setting of the terrace restaurant overlooking the vineyards and castle grounds. The cook and wait staff were exceptional at serving the wedding party of over 30 people. Pool area was serene surrounded by plantings, trees, and bushes.
Enjoyed Least:
Climbing the 46 steps to get to Castello 18. This presented a challenge with the luggage, but certainly did keep us in good shape. Not a good choice of rooms for people who are older with any health issues. Beds were too firm for us.
Surrounding Area:
The view was spectacular from the castle grounds. The little towns were enchanting, perched on the tops of surrounding hills. Loved the vineyards and the wine tasting. We also enjoyed the restaurants in all of the little towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Baccaiano was the nearest town. Eight of us "girls" walked down the hill to eat at a restaurant for lunch. We all made it back up the hill despite some thinking they would not be able to.
Tips or Restaurants:
For sure bring mosquito spray and after bite. Do not overpack. Make reservations for restaurants as they fill up fast with locals. The Baccaiano restaurants were good. We went to one that was upscale and the other across from the roundabout was more casual.
Directions:
We did use a GPS and had no problem getting to the property.

Overall:
Just delightful!
Enjoyed Most:
The quietness, and the regal beauty.
Enjoyed Least:
All the steps!!!
Surrounding Area:
The vistas were incredible. Hey, its Tuscany!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Baccaiano, and we did walk there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Come prepared to do lots of walking, plan to eat a few of your meals in your room in addition to breakfast. If you have the right amenities, you can do your own cooking.
Directions:
Taxi driver knew his way. That was the upside, downside was not having our own vehicle, but we worked it out just fine!
