Overall:
We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. We arrived late at night and were met by the owner, Ivan, who coulnd't have been more welcoming and helpful. There was a large antipasto plate with fresh bread waiting for us, fresh fruit and a tart made by his mother. What a welcome treat after a long 24 hours of travel.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the location and the interior. It was very roomy for 5 of us. The bathrooms were great, kitchen wonderful. We had no complaints about the bedrooms and loved the downstairs area with the cute bar. We would meet downstairs after our day trips, open the doors to let the light and air in, a sit and watch the world go by...usually people struggling up the steep hill! This property is a little piece of heaven. Ivan is wonderful and even brought homemade pesto, pasta, and the most delicious tiramasu one night when we had been out all day and were tired. We felt like we had died and gone to heaven.
Enjoyed Least:
The hill from town was pretty steep but we felt the vast amount of energy it took to get home would work off any vast amount of calorie intake in the wonderful restaurants in town.
Surrounding Area:
Very well-located for day trips. We went to Florence by train and drove to Multepulciano, Siena, Assisi, and a couple other small towns. The country side was picturesque, just as we imagined Tuscany to be. Also plenty of wineries nearby to go wine tasting.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The apartment was right in Cortona, which we loved. One of our favorite towns! A few minutes walk down the hill...a bit of a struggle back but definitly worth the effort. Plenty to do in town if we didn't want to venture out for the day. Lots of good places for coffee, lunch, dinner or just gelato. Nice shops, people very pleasant.
Tips or Restaurants:
The best restaurant in town is Buccachia. Expensive but not for what you get. The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, great wine, owner very social and eager to please his customers. We had a great night out here and would highly recommend it. We didn't need anything. Not necessary to bring anythig from home, if you need anything the shops have all you could want.
Directions:
Yes we did use GPS. Actually we couldn't have managed without it. We would have had great difficulty arriving at our destination in the dark without it.
Check In Out:
We had a wonderful property owner, Ivan. He gave us gift on arrival, mid-week, and a small gift on departure. What a wonderful guy, he made our holiday so special.

Overall:
Absolutely delightful--better than we had expected. Our owner Evan was beyond accommodating. He couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome.
Enjoyed Most:
It was charming, organized, and offered all comforts and wonderful proximity to the piazza.
Enjoyed Least:
More fans were needed in the bedrooms.
Surrounding Area:
EVERYTHING, food, shopping, swimming, the sights, people, grocery, markets, and a wonderful arts festival.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in Cortona.
Tips or Restaurants:
All the restaurants in the town are wonderful. We did not have a bad meal. The climb to town is steep; there are some people who wouldn't be able to make the hike multiple times a day.

Overall:
From the moment we met the owner, we knew this was not only going to be a trip of a lifetime, we knew we found a new friend! Casa Berrettini felt like home! The special moments we created in the kitchen and around the beautiful kitchen table; the kitchen table was the heart of our vacation. We spent most evenings cooking, laughing, sharing, and eating! The neighbors are wonderful and we found the community of Cortona loving, sweet, and welcoming. We all miss Casa Berrettini, Ivan, Mama, and Cortona!
Enjoyed Most:
Everything! The location is ideal...close to the piazza without the impact of potential crowds. The city and the residents of Cortona are so kind. As for the property, the home is warm, decorated tastefully, the views of the valley from the kitchen and the bedrooms are beautiful, the kitchen table begs you to sit around, unplug, and get back to the basics: talking, laughing, eating and sipping a yummy Brunello.
Surrounding Area:
The neighbors (we particularly fell in love with the neighbors son...he is so cute). I love the older man that leans out his window every day to grab a breath of fresh air or to check out the hustle of a grade-school aged soccer team. I love the fact that there's a church up the hill and down the hill...and I love the fact that it is quiet and peaceful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Casa Berrettini is walking distance to the main center of Cortona where you can grab a slice of pizza, a gelato, cappuccino and a glass of Brunello (what else do you need in life?). There's a town nearby (10-minute drive) where you can grab your groceries, sundries, and anything else you need.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a journal as you may find yourself writing (at the kitchen table!) about all the little things that make up a wonderful day in Cortona and Casa Berrettini! Bring your inner cook as the kitchen is equipped with everything you need to whip up a yummy meal. Leave your electronics at home. Bring the universal sign of friendship: a smile! The market on Sat morning is noteworthy. Don't skip the food section! We cooked most night; however, the pizza spot at the bottom of the hill just before you enter into the piazza was our favorite.
Directions:
The directions from the Florence airport were spot on. Note the A1 highway is a toll road.
Check In Out:
We LOVED the welcoming greeting from Ivan. He showed us around the house and had treats waiting for us (we were starving!)
Checking out was easy and seamless. Saying goodbye to Ivan, Casa Berrettini, and Cortona brought us to tears.
