La Perlerie is a tiny store offering bronze and silver bracelet and necklace charms and you can assemble your jewelry right in the store. For some of the best steak frites of Paris, stop by Le Relais de l’Entrecôte, known simply as l’Entrecôte, but expect a wait of at least a half-hour!

Questions and Answers From Our Clients

Q: Is getting around fairly easy or would I need to rent a car? I plan on staying in Paris mostly but would love to get out to Chateau and wine country
A: I stayed at Rue de Verneil in April 2002. It is walking distance to a metro stop, perhaps 5 minutes away. To get out of Paris, you would need to go from there to one of the train stations, which would also be easy. However, on a previous trip to Paris, my sister and I wanted to go to the Champagne region of Rheims. While we had no problem getting to the general vicinity on the train from Paris, once we got there it was clear that we couldn't get to more than one winery, Tattinger, without a car. So, it depends on what it is that you want to do. If there is a train stop in the town that you wish to see, and you will just be walking around the town, then you are ok without a car. But if you want to see more of the countryside and easily move from town to town, then you will likely prefer having a car. However, you may want to consider taking the train to an outlying area of Paris and then renting the car, unless you are very comfortable driving in European cities. Hope that helps, and we really liked the apartment that you are considering. It's nicely furnished, quiet, good location as well. I did have to clean some sediment out of the master bathroom showerhead in order to maximize the water pressure, but I expect that kind of thing when I rent an apartment.

A: Getting around is very easy and it would not be necessary or advisable to rent a car. The metro stop is very close and trains are available to all the major attractions. If you wanted to go to small villages in the wine country, you might consider renting for a day or however long you would want to stay there.
The Rue de Verneiuil is wonderful. We wish you a very pleasant trip!!

Overall:
I followed my Travel Advisor's suggestions regarding this apartment. I was very pleased with both the apartment and the location! Paris is beautiful with lots to see and do. It was a great experience for me and my children!
Enjoyed Most:
The location by far was optimal. There is a bakery on the corner, specialty food stores across the street, walking distance to the Louvre and the Seine River all in all you cannot beat where this apartment is located!
Enjoyed Least:
I really enjoyed the property and it was perfect for us. The complimentary hair dryer was very helpful to have; we loved it!
Surrounding Area:
The stores and neighborhood in general. All important needs were in walking distance and we felt very safe.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in central Paris but we were a block away from the Seine River and the Orsay and Louvre Museums!
Tips or Restaurants:
Well, in the summer your suggestions for bug sprays, etc. would be key as there are no screens on the windows; that may be something you may wish to specify. Also, keep in mind that there is no microwave.
Directions:
We took a taxi; the address to specify upon arrival is indicated on the voucher. Take special note!
Check In Out:
The key holder is a sweet lady, but she does not speak English. Also, as you check in, perhaps have her show you how to get out of the complex and then re-enter with the key code. It was a small obstacle but she is wonderful and helped me quite a bit throughout the week!

Overall:
The experience was great!! We had never rented an apartment in Paris and it made life so much more relaxed and convenient. I LOVED it!!
Enjoyed Most:
Location!! It was perfectly located in my favorite section of Paris.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen was tiny. Very efficient, but tiny.
Surrounding Area:
Love, love, love this area! It's in walking distance of all my favorite spots. Couldn't have a better location from my point of view.
Tips or Restaurants:
Can't think of any extra things to bring that wasn't on your list. FYI, I was thrilled there was a hair dryer in the apartment.
Restaurants - best ever meal Au Moulin Au Vent. Expensive, but worth every penny. I used to go there every 6 months when I traveled for business and it's just as good as ever. Try the frogs legs!!
Another favorite Mon Vieil Ami on Ile St Louis. Unusual food especially focused on amazing vegetables. Expensive again but well worth it.
New discovery Cafe St Regis on Ile St Louis. Best onion soup I've ever had!! Everything we ate for lunch was delicious!! Mix of French and tourists but felt very French.
Directions:
We went by taxi from airport so no problem.
Check In Out:
Was extremely easy.
