Questions and Answers From Our Clients

(Click the question to view the answer)
Q: Since two couples have done all the planning, etc. we would like to know what two bedrooms would be considered best according to former visitors to Villa Del Cielo et Caminneta... ...do we need to bring our own coffee maker?
Q: 1. If you stayed in October, what did you pay for utilities. Any other charges?. Must this be paid in cash? 2. How many keys were supplied?. 3. Any trouble getting the security deposit back. Was it given back to you in Cash?
Q: Are there enough pool chairs/lounges for a group of ten to use around the pool?
Q: Is there anything specifically you would recommend we bring with us? For instance, how many adapters? Hair dryers? Sundries such as toilet paper, etc.? Laundry detergent? anything else!!! I want this trip to be perfect!
Q: approximately how much per person for dinner at the two restaurants in the nearby town mentioned?
Q: We are staying in august - rough idea of electricity/cleaning costs for the week in summer would be helpful.
Q: I have not been able to get a definitive answer about the bedroom configurations. Are there some rooms with twin beds, some with queen. Please be specific about the layout of the property. Thanks!
Q: Is the pool heated and pleasant to swim in in August? Also, is there maid service provided and is there any place nice you can walk to from the villa? Thank you
Q: We have booked the Villa from Nov. 3 - 17th for 12 people (6 couples). Does anyone have a recommendation for car hire? We understand that parking at the villa is difficult - would we be better with 2 cars and would appreciate a car hire company suggestion. Thanks
Q: Only 4 of the 7 bedrooms have air conditioning. Do the 2 bedrooms on the ground floor of the chapel stay warm at night or do the ceiling fans cool them down enough for comfortable sleeping, even if the temperatures are in the 90's during the day?
Q: Car rental places in Sienna are usually open until 1PM on Saturdays. I was planning on coming in on the train to Sienna Any ideas on car rental or another way to get to villa on a Saturday. Possibly Florence? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
We had such a wonderful time at the villa. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The villa was fully equipped with everything you could ask for. I rate it a "10".
Enjoyed Most:
The peace and quiet. The outdoor space was excellent. This property is well taken care of.
Surrounding Area:
The views, shopping, eating and the people were very friendly.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nothing was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant down the hill is very good. Jesus (the key holder who checks you in) doesn't speak English so I would suggest installing a translator program on your iPad or phone. We did, and it made it very easy to converse with him.
Directions:
We did bring a GPS--and for some reason it took us the back way to the property. Once we found it, we were fine.
Check In Out:
Check in was very easy. Check out was just a easy. Jesus did a great job.

Overall:
We loved it!
Enjoyed Most:
The chapel and the view.
Surrounding Area:
We had David Wagner's maps for town itineraries. These were marvelous and a good buy! The two restaurants just down the hill were good. The closest one has a sports program on the TV in it going all the time if you like that sort of thing (I don't).
Nearby Events or Locales:
Siena was very close. A few miles but keep in mind the villa is at the top of a very steep hill and Siena is on other hills. In summer, I might have walked it. Not in winter. You need a car anyway and Italy is always a good place to walk within the towns - there are so many wonderful little passageways and streets. We had my 90-year-old mother with us. She is very game but was delighted to discover the escalators close to the Santa Caterina parking garage in Siena, and so were we.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Loggia was an excellent restaurant in Siena. Very good food. We ate there three times. We forgot to bring matches and there was no paper or kindling to start a fire.

Overall:
We had an excellent experience at the Villa del Cielo. We were five couples, parents, brothers, sister, and spouses. We made very good use of the kitchen and Caminetto because we all love to cook. We even entertained family who live in Siena, used the outdoor barbeque, and ate under the arbor.
Enjoyed Most:
The peace, quiet, and privacy made for a serenely relaxing time. The villa is really divided into two sections with lots of rooms so we could find private spaces both inside and outside, or we could come together and socialize in the spacious common areas. We always came together in the evening, usually for supper, to talk about our day and plan the next.
Enjoyed Least:
In mid to late October, the villa was damp and very chilly so when we returned from our excursions, we spent most of our evenings in the dining room or the small living room because we could build a fire in the Caminetto every night. Doing laundry was difficult because we could not use the washer and dryer at the same time. Since we were spending two and three weeks in Italy, doing laundry was a necessity and with ten people, it sometimes felt like a marathon.
Surrounding Area:
Siena was a beautiful city with much to see and do. Tuscany is enchanting. We rented cars and traveled all over Tuscany and into Umbria. San Gimignano, Arezzo, Cortona, Firenze, Pisa, Lucca, Montalcino, Monteriggioni, Torre Lago di Puccini were some of the towns and cities we visited. We also had an amazing time at two vineyards and wineries, Castello Gabbiano and Castello Verrazzano. The last was particularly exceptional, and our guide/host Gino made it almost a spiritual experience.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monteriggioni was the closest town, but nothing was within walking distance. Since we had rented cars, this was not a problem, and Siena was very close, but one would not want to walk there. The roads leading from the villa are very narrow and winding.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would advise renters to follow the suggestions Rentvillas provides, bring wash cloths, laundry and dishwasher pods, etc. There are two excellent restaurants about a kilometer from the villa, but we did not have one bad meal no matter where we ate. We tended to stay away from the centers of the towns and looked for places off the beaten path. Hence, we had some amazing meals, including the ones we cooked.
Directions:
The GPSs that came with the cars were excellent. One person brought one from home; it was less accurate. We did use coordinates. I would advise renting a car with a GPS rather than bringing one from the States.
Check In Out:
Utility use is calculated at the end and payment is deducted from the deposit that is made upon arrival.
