Enjoyed Most:
The Villa is unique and has wonderful links to its origins in the 17th century. We truly enjoyed the features, its multiple rooms and it historical accuracy.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The property needs maintenance, some minor and some major. Light bulbs missing, one light with a short in the plug. One of the ovens does not work. The items were more of nuisance than a hindrance. Editor's Note: Ovens repaired; new washing machine, dishwasher and kitchen utensils; heating system fixed; further renovations. January 2007.
Surrounding Area:
The villa sits in a beautiful valley with wonderful views of the area countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Although there are two small villages or collections of houses on either side of the villa the nearest small town is Barberino. It has a very interesting old walled town which can easily be missed. It is up to your right as you pass through on your way to the villa and well worth taking the short time to wonder it streets.
Tips or Restaurants:
One of the best restaurant finds was the house keeper. For 25 euros per person she will cook a very nice meal for the guests. We found that San Gimignano is loaded with great restaurants and is only a short distance from the Villa. We used a Hertz Neverlost which enabled us to explore the back roads of Tuscany between Florence and Siena. We saw a lot of breathtaking countryside that we would have not otherwise seen. For a great Vineyard Tour we went to Castello Di Verrazzano, a unique property owned by the Verrazzano, who explored the east coast of the U.S. The Vineyard is in Greve and requires reservations 39 335 52 42 453. Good lunch and wine tasting.

Overall:
Loved the caretakers of the farm and villa - very nice
Enjoyed Most:
Ambiance, architectural structure, location very centrally located, bedrooms and bathrooms, view - most everything!
Unpleasant Surprises:
Minor points - should have a working drip coffee maker. The current one not functional. Also need to provide more than one set of towels per person.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to Florence, Siena, Certaldo, San Gimignano, Volterra and Chianti country

Enjoyed Most:
The location, the grandness of the villa, the amount of space, the views of the countryside. The local wine produced sold on the estate is quite good. The cooks prepared outstanding meals for us.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The weather was quite warm and as a consequence, the bedrooms were very warm it was difficult to enjoy the villa because of this. Also, the bees, flies and mosquitoes were extremely bothersome, both in and around the swimming pool and in the bedrooms at night, as there are no screens on the windows.
Surrounding Area:
The beauty of the area. The Chianti region is magnificent. Views are stunning. The food is terrific as is the wine. The surrounding towns are quite interesting and worth exploring.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Barberino, a fifteen minute drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Any restaurant in any of the surrounding towns is going to be great, and we enjoyed all the meals we had. Bring plenty of bug repellent, particularly in the summer months there are several supermercatos that have whatever you need.
Check In Out:
Everything went smoothly.
