About The Experience
If you and your family are looking for a place on the Amalfi Coast with views of the sea in every directions, this accommodation is for you. This apartment has access to a shared roof-top terrace and pool (shared with the other apartment and with the owner, who occupies the top floor unit).
Location Description

The property is located less than two kilometers from Furore where there are food shops, a post office and a bus stop. You will want to go to Amalfi, 10km away, for your main shopping, as well as the closest beach. This beautiful Amalfi Coast town dates back to the 6th century and was once an important trading center with historical and medieval architecture throughout the town. The main sites include the Duomo, the cathedral of Sant' Andrea, which dates back to the 11th century, and the Cloister of Paradise. There is also a museum dedicated to the works of Morelli and a museum where you can view artifacts of Amalfi's long and interesting history. You’ll also find a good selection of shops, restaurants, and markets, as well as a pharmacy and post office. During the summer months, there are daily ferries leaving from Amalfi to Capri, Positano, Sorrento, and Naples, although there are always buses connecting the towns along the Amalfi Coast.

Please Note: While the Amalfi Coast is beautiful and charming, it is also steep, with many uphill and downhill stairs and walkways. In general, it is an area that is not kind to those of us with knee or mobility issues. This should be considered before booking a property in this area.

Nearby Attractions: shops, restaurants, cafes, markets, the beach, bus stop, Amalfi (medieval architecture, museums, restaurants, shops, beaces), Positano (beach, shops, restaurants, markets, post office, pharmacy), Sorrento, Pompei, Naples.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay.
Enjoyed Most:
The view. Proximity to the village of Furore. Availability of public bus and taxi transportation.
Enjoyed Least:
The living room furniture was not comfortable for relaxing, viewing TV, etc. Availability of a radio and/or CD player would have added to our enjoyment during the day and evenings.
Surrounding Area:
The beautiful views were breathtaking. The residents of the nearby village were friendly and very helpful. Being in the middle between Amalfi/Ravello and Praiano/Positano was helpful, as well. A relaxing ferry ride to Capri was also nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Furore. It was less than one-half mile from the center of town.
Tips or Restaurants:
A visit for lunch at Villa Maria in Ravello is a must.
Directions:
We used a GPS and had no problem finding the meeting place in the Village of Furore.
Check In Out:
Unfortunately, the local agent was not available to meet/greet and introduce us to the property on the day we arrived. We met the next morning but it would have been more informative had we met upon arrival. We checked out with the assistant renting agent and finally had answers to questions we'd had all week.

Overall:
It was a great choice. Furore is a tiny town of about 500 people tucked between Amalfi and Positano, right above Praiano. Mornings are extremely quite and peaceful and you can even hear roosters. The villa, Furore 2, is very comfortable for a family of 4.
Enjoyed Most:
The location. It was very quiet yet it's a short drive to either Amalfi or Positano for dinner, the beach, or any other entertainment. Having a pool is such a benefit if you travel during summer. Italy gets really hot.
Surrounding Area:
We loved little towns in the area, and of course the views.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Furore is the town, and you can walk--but for most people it's probably a tad too far to walk. Amalfi is a 15-minute drive, Positano is 30 (just because roads are so slow, not because of distance).
Tips or Restaurants:
Owners gave us a great tip for a a restaurant just on the road that goes through Furore toward Napoli called Baco. And the local RentVillas agent gave us great suggestion--the Serafino farm, just a kilometer down the same road where the villa is located. We had probably the best meal there.
Directions:
You still need GPS to find anything. We got lost after leaving the airport. After we plugged in our GPS we found the place.

Overall:
My sister and I (72 and 62 respectively) had a terrific time in Furore! The villa was spectacular, with lovely views of the sea and the town of Praiano below. So overall, we loved the trip and the accommodations!! The unpleasantries were few and insignificant. I would be more than happy to recommend the villa to anyone who loves modern, luxury accommodations, peace and quiet (except for the barking dog) and superb views of the sea!
Enjoyed Most:
The unit was spotless, well maintained, beautiful furnishings, and had very new appliances, comfortable beds, and there was lots of space. Since we went the first week of May, they had just filled the pool and it was very cold, but we went in once anyway. Loved being able to open the French doors in the bedroom, walk out to the terrace at night, watch the sunset or sunrise, see the moon relfected in the sea below. We met the owners, and they were very friendly and gracious. There is a flock of sheep that grazes on the hillside below, and we loved watching them. Sometimes the shepherd was with them, sometimes not. There were three sheep that seemed to have special dispensation to stay out late into the dusk, all by themselves. We also encountered a herd of goats that crossed our path on the road – that was cool! The local agents were very polite and ready to answer any questions. I even called them during the week for directions to somewhere, or to inquire about why the Amalfi Coast Road was closed from Praiano to Sorrento (landslide, apparently); they were happy to take our calls. They kept saying how expensive electricity is in Italy, but we only used about $30 of electricity the entire week. Of coure, we only needed air conditioning one day, and then the weather became very pleasant. We found the villa to be very energy efficient.
Enjoyed Least:
The things we found unpleasant: there is a dog that lives not far from the villa that enjoys barking loudly and often. The steps to the villa are steep and strenuous – four flights to get up to our unit – not for people with mobility problems. There’s only parking on the narrow street in front of the villa or down about 100 feet to a small place for one car. I managed to find the BBC channel on the TV only once.
Tips or Restaurants:
You absolutely need a car to get around, and driving on the spaghetti roads on the mountain at night wasn’t something I wanted to deal with, so eating a cold dinner in the evenings worked out perfectly. There’s nothing in the main part of Furore to speak of, except for a pizza parlor/sports bar – it had the only bad food we experienced on our trip. And there was also a fairly well stocked bodega in Furore where we got juices, fruits, cookies, and other necessities. But we often stopped at a whim whenever we saw a restaurant along the road that had good sea views, and that worked out very well. For restaurants, I’d suggest “Da Maria” in Amalfi, just a few yards down from the Duomo. Hotel Rufolo in Ravello also had wonderful views and excellent food. Lunches at Restaurant Fornillo and Trattoria Ciccio above the Amalfi Drive were wonderful - local produce, fresh catch, excellent service. We wanted to eat at the Torre Normano near Maiori, but it was closed for lunch and the walk from the road to the restaurant would have been very strenuous. It’s amost impossible to park in Amalfi unless you are very lucky or you don’t mind walking all the way from the remote parking lot beyond the bus parking. It’ll probably take you about 15 minutes to go from there to the main entrance to Amalfi. We loved the Duomo in Amalfi and the gardens in Ravello... and the art/ceramic shops.
Directions:
We called the agents from Amalfi about an hour beforehand, and they suggested that we meet in Amalfi rather than in the town of Furore as suggested on the rental voucher. That was an excellent idea, since it would have been difficult to find the meeting place ourselves, and impossible to find the villa without a guide. We followed the agents right up to the villa and did the rental necessities there.
