Overall:
This was a property that offered everything! From the excellent furnishings, fully equipped kitchen, front loading washer and dryer, and two eating areas for casual and more formal dining.
We could not have asked for more.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything was in like-new condition and very upscale. The grounds were extremely beautiful and well maintained.
Hard to beat the location, a little out of the way, but that added to the charm and quietness.
Enjoyed Least:
The unit is listed as a four bedroom plus Gite. Two bedrooms had ensuite baths (the master bath is very large). On the second floor the third bedroom uses a toilet in a seperate room and another room with the shower and vanity. Awkward but usable. The fourth bedroom is in a "loft" type area with no doors opening to a stair case down to the the second floor landing. There was a vanity and mirror, very small and difficult to make any use of.
The fourth bedroom shares the toilet and bath with the third bedroom and for two couples to share in a bath in the hall of the second floor was a little difficult. We got through it, but the couple on the third floor has to be very understanding/flexible.
Surrounding Area:
It took us a few days before we found (no other reports from previous guests) the excellent bakery at the main Ceval Blanc intersection. It was literally 1 km away. We ended up there every morning for bread and pasteries.
Also, there was an excellent little market (Cocco Marche) across from the bakery that had an outstanding meat market and all the "little" items you may need. The only items we could not get there was fresh fruit.
Once we found the market we saved considerable time shopping at Auchan and Super U.
In addition, the house is ideally situated close to all the main tourist locations in the area. The farthest we went was Nime and Pont du Gard, about an hour and 30 minutes maximum driving time.
Nearby Events or Locales:
While it is really only 1 km away, the roads in the area do not lend themselves to much walking - very narrow.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Auberge Restaurant in Cheval Blanc is excellent - upscale (read Expensive) but very nice.
We added cards from a number of restaurants to the list in the house, many in Cavaillon - 20 minutes away and the nearest large town.
Directions:
The area is growing a little and there was a street sign for Rue Banquets.
We did have a GPS - one was a TomTom in the rental car and one was a Garmin I brought from home, with the Europe Chip I bought.
The Garmin was far superior to the TomTom.
I felt we could not have survived without the GPS - many roads are not well marked, they change names frequently, the maps we tried to use as backups were of little use as you are flying alone the backroads - we purposely avoided all use of the toll roads - too expensive and not much to see from them.
Check In Out:
Anna was waiting for us when we arrived and was on time for check out. No problems at all.

Overall:
My husband and I and two other couples enjoyed our time at this lovely villa. It would house many more people comfortably and we all spoke of wanting to bring our children and grandchildren for a family vacation to this well equipped villa.
Enjoyed Most:
We enjoyed the pool area and the kitchen of this property in particular. The pool was beautiful, however too cold to swim in during the first month of October. We spent many afternoons by the pool reading in the sun. We had a big American breakfast with French pastries every morning and dinner every evening in the large well-equipped kitchen. The dining room was lovely for special evening meals. The property offered over 200 really good DVDs. We had a movie night each evening.
Enjoyed Least:
The villa could use a little tender care. It would only take a little paint and a good gardener to bring this back to it's glorious original state. Editor's Note: New water heaters have been added upstairs and downstairs.
Surrounding Area:
We visited a different medieval village each day. (All within 50 km.) We would travel after breakfast to one or two towns, enjoy a good lunch in the town and then come home to relax by the pool and then prepare dinner.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cheval Blanc was the closest town, only about 2 km. It is definitely walkable but not after sunset.
Tips or Restaurants:
We enjoyed our first evening out for dinner at the local gourmet restaurant in Cheval Blanc and had a fabulous meal.
We went back on the last evening to celebrate a birthday.
Directions:
Directions are from the center of town.
Check In Out:
The property manager had written a great book of information on the villa which was very informative. However, it would be helpful to also have English manuals to use the oven, washer and dryer. We were able to figure everything out but feared we would break something by not using it correctly.

Overall:
The house was the best we have ever rented in 14 years. Everything was provided, right down to hand soap in each bathroom and swimming towels for the pool.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool was lovely. The 'rock' effect made it feel like a beach. The view of the Alpilles in the distance was stunning.
Enjoyed Least:
The frogs in the pond at night!
Surrounding Area:
Walking in the Alpilles and the little roadside fruit shacks.
Nearby Events or Locales:
It is best to drive to Cheval Blanc. Super bakery there and a cafe which all the locals eat in at lunch time which was very reasonable and tasty.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nothing to bring, just your clothes. Makes the holiday so relaxing. And the beds were changed at the end of the first week, which was a nice extra. The Super U and Auchan supermarkets are close by and have all you need for supplies.
Directions:
No problem finding the house, relied on GPS and written directions at the end.
Check In Out:
The manager was very efficient and helpful, both times.
