About The Experience

If you and two other couples are looking for some rest and relaxation while spending the holidays in Tuscany, look no further for a rental accommodation because you’ve found it here. This villa is set in the hills of Tuscany and is near the region’s best spas and wellness centers in Montecatini Terme. You’ll also be able to throw in some excitement when you’d like, for Lucca, Florence, and Siena and perfect day trip destinations.

Location Description

This property is located three kilometers away from the nearest town of Monsummano Terme. There are a number of leisure activities you can find in or around Monsummano such as golf courses, horseback riding facilities, walking tours, and cooking classes. Nearby are the Giusti Grottoes, home to hot thermal baths, and Motecatini Terme, one of the European spa capitals. Thirty kilometers away is Lucca, which is worth enjoying for its medieval charm in addition to a number of interesting sights. The Duomo di San Martino and the Church of San Michele in Foro are both gorgeous examples of period architecture, while the Casa di Puccini, where the composer was born, has been transformed into a small museum in his honor. You can also climb the 130 foot Torre Guinigi, but on the other hand, viewing the tree-topped tower from below might be just as enjoyable… and a lot less work! There is a train station in both Montecatini Terme and Lucca in which you can easily and quickly travel to Pisa or Florence for the day should you not feel like driving.

Nearby Attractions: Monsummano (thermal baths, Romanesque church, castle), Montecatini Terme (spas, restaurants, shops, live performances, train station), Lucca (Torre Guinigi, museums, churches, train station), Florence, Pisa, Siena

Customer Reviews

Overall:
The villa was beautiful and very relaxing. The view was incredible and we were surrounded by beauty and nature. We had beautiful white horses who would greet us in the morning. Amazing!
Enjoyed Most:
It was spacious and everything was beautiful. Owner was very nice and always very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
The only challenge was the drive up the mountain to the property but after doing it a few times it was not a problem.
Surrounding Area:
It was breathtakingly beautiful and close to a lot of great cities: Lucca, Viareggio and a bit further Siena, Arezzo and San Gimignano.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The closest towns were Monsummano Terme and Montecatini Terme-- not walking distance because the villa is on top of a mountain.
Tips or Restaurants:
Rent the smallest car you can to make it easy to get up and down the mountain. The owner recommended some good restaurants, particularly La Cantina outside of Monsumano Terme.
Directions:
The directions provided were helpful. We did use GPS for when we got a bit off track since there are a lot of one way streets.

Overall:
The experience was very good, especially the landlord. He was very friendly and accommodating.
Enjoyed Most:
The interior of the villa was excellent and kept in great shape.
Enjoyed Least:
The road to get to and from the villa was very narrow and we had to beep our horn on every turn. Coming home one night we blew a hole in our rental car tire because of the narrow road and a stone wall on the right side.
Surrounding Area:
The beautiful view.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monsummano Terme was about 3 miles from the villa.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring exta toilet paper, and make sure you rent a small car. The landlord will give you three restaurants that are in town and they are great finds. He also pointed out where the supermarkets are.

Overall:
Fantastic! It was just what we were looking for.
Enjoyed Most:
That is a tough question. We loved the house, the view, the manager-Giuseppe, the property, the windows, the pool, etc.
Enjoyed Least:
The drive up the hill. This was very difficult for us and though the directions were excellent, a bit of warning about the narrow roads and the lack of street signs would have been appreciated. Editor's Note: The owner has updated the directions, and the warning about the road has been added to the directions. August 2011.
Surrounding Area:
We liked the town of Monsummano and the next town over Montecatini Terme. This location was convenient to Firenze and Pisa and the autostrada.
Nearby Events or Locales:
It was within walking distance of Monsummano Terme.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be prepared for the initial trip up the mountain, and do not try to find the property in the dark. We had a wonderful experience using Kitchen chez nous for a cooking lesson.
Directions:
We did not have GPS. We would just have liked a warning about the steep climb to the property
Check In Out:
Giuseppe was an excellent host!
