Located on one of the larger working farms in this region, this property comes under the Italian category of “agritourismo.” It is situated in a beautiful rural position, but its place between Siena and Florence also makes this a great jumping-off point for day trips throughout Tuscany. The nearest village is Staggia, a beautiful little walled town with a castle overgrown with greenery. Here you'll also find the basics, from food to a post office and a café. Nearby Siena is a treasure trove of medieval architecture and authentic Tuscan culture-- including the famed annual bareback horserace! Other great locales in the region include San Gimignano, Volterra, and Florence.

(35 Hectares) This apartment is located on a working farm that produces wine, olive oil, Vinsanto, and grappa, as well as various grain crops. There are also uncultivated areas which, in the spring, are covered with poppies. Picturesque paths through these areas lead to adjacent farms. The original 19th century farmhouse, in which this apartment is located, has been carefully restructured and transformed into six modernized apartments, each with its own entrance. The house is located on a hilltop, affording a panoramic view over the hills of the Chianti district. Surrounding the house is a communal garden and shared swimming pool (14m x 7m). There is also a cement tennis court in the center of the farmstead (racquets are available). A large barbecue and covered dining table are the center of the communal area, along with ping-pong, children's games, a play house, a slide, and a swing. Small individual tables and barbecues are also provided for the convenience of individual families. A selection of mountain bikes is available for use. A large parking area is located in front of the house, and there are shared laundry facilities.
At the completion of the harvest season, a celebration is held, during which all guests are invited to sample the many flavors and products of the land. In the cantina (cellar), run by the head of the family, there is a shop where guests may purchase bottles of wine for their own use. The owner's family occupies a separate unit in the farmhouse building. The family cares for the garden and provides homemade baked pastries as part of the welcome extended to new guests, or in celebration of special events.

Overall:
We had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend this villa to anyone we know travelling to Tuscany.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the view and the property - that was probably our favourite thing. However, we also loved having access to the wine from their winery - so delicious and inexpensive! Plus we were able to access the wine room 24 hours a day! Another favourite were the people that ran the villa - Claudia and her family were always willing to help out whenever they could. They kept the property so neat and clean and were so friendly and nice - they really made us feel welcome.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Can't really think of anything!
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to the main highway between Florence and Siena - fairly easy to get to all of the towns and wineries we wanted to visit. Plus the landscape was amazing.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Staggia - it was within walking distance, but not recommended because of the tight turns and drivers come around them quickly.
Tips or Restaurants:
We brought most of the things suggested to us by RentVillas and it was helpful - especially ziplock bags, sponges etc. but the villa was really well stocked, so we didn't need too many additional items - we just had to buy food. The one restaurant we ate at in town was very good - I'm not quite sure of the name. Reasonably priced. Fresh and delicious food and yummy bag of bread to start!!! We definitely recommend the wine at the villa - all the bottles we tried were so good and we enjoyed cooking with the olive oil, as well.

Overall:
It was a glorious experience. Our stay afforded us the opportunity to really rest and take in the beauty of Tuscany, while also serving as a base for day-trip travel by train and car to hill towns as well as Florence and Siena.
Enjoyed Most:
The beauty of the area was extraordinary. The grounds were immaculately cared for by the charming and attentive staff. The quarters were well stocked with necessary amenities. The pool was lovely and we enjoyed the use of the bicycles, ping pong, and basketball.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The shower drainage in the bathroom was problematic as the floor was wet and slippery.
Surrounding Area:
The views were amazing.-- panoramic and lush!! We enjoyed running, walking and biking through the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia was the nearest town. We biked there, although the ride back was difficult as it was all up-hill on the road back to the property.
Tips or Restaurants:
It would be wise to stock up well on groceries as there aren't many restaurant options in Staggia.
Check In Out:
It was minimal and simple

Overall:
We were travelling with our 10-month old son and the villa was very child friendly - they provided a crib and were very welcoming. It was quiet enough for him to take naps and sleep at night. But we did find ourselves confined some nights since its not an easy walk to town. But I do highly recommend this villa!
Enjoyed Most:
Good location - easy drive to several nice Tuscan towns as well as Siena and the Chianti region. The wine room with wine and olive oil from the winery at the villa was a nice treat!
Unpleasant Surprises:
Nothing bad to say.
Surrounding Area:
The beauty!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia was the closest town - within walking distance but on a busy road so we didn't walk. Monteriggioni was the closest by car that was fun for lunches and gelato!
Tips or Restaurants:
Both restaurants in Monteriggioni were very good. We found the apartment pretty well stocked - toilet paper, sponges and soap. All fine. Bring extra towels for the pool.
