St. John Villas, St. John Apartments
Thanks to a donation by Laurance Rockefeller in 1956, 75% of the island of Saint John belongs to the Virgin Islands National Park, leaving a large part of the landscape open to the public but unspoiled by hotels and resorts. The northern shore boasts some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, including the wildly popular Trunk Bay.

Hiking trails wind through tropical forests, plantation ruins, and secluded coves. Visitors looking for more privacy should head to the south shores... but be prepared for dirt roads! Coral reefs around the island, also protected by the National Park, offer spectacular snorkeling. Cruz Bay is the island's capital, offering various amenities such as restaurants, shopping, supermarkets, ferries, and car rentals. Saint John has no airport, so the only access to the island is by ferry from Saint Thomas (running hourly). There are also ferry routes to all of the U.K. Virgin Islands..
