- About The Experience
-
Within a restored 15th century building in Santa Croce, this apartment rental in Florence is both charming and centrally located. The memories you make here at your Florence vacation accommodation, both inside and out, will be something you look back on with a smile for a lifetime-- or determine to do again!
- Location Description
-
This Florence holiday accommodation is located in a restricted-traffic zone in Santa Croce, one of Florence's most characteristic neighborhoods. The apartment is on the second floor of a palazzo built in the 15th century. The palazzo is situated about two blocks from the Piazza Santa Croce and the famous Capella dei Pazzi.
Nearby Attractions: The Santa Croce quarter is located on the southeastern part of the historic center of Florence. Since the Middle Ages, it was an area specializing in leather. In fact, today it is still filled with leather shops! The large Santa Croce Church, filled with famous frescos and tombs of some of the city’s greats, is the main structure of the quarter. The piazza in front of the church is filled day and night with tourists and locals. Some of the best gelato shops and restaurants can be found in this neighborhood. Piazza dei Ciompi has a daily flea market as well as a large monthly market (last Sunday). Plaz, located across from the 16th century Loggia del Pesce is a fun and casual place to stop for a drink and live music.

- Exterior Description
-
This 15th century building was completely restored in 1996. It is a typical example of late medieval Florentine art. Each apartment is made secure with a door buzzer. There is an elevator servicing each floor, and there is a terrace (for use by all tenants of the building) on the second floor (if taking the stairs) or the fourth floor (if taking the lift). The reason for this discrepancy is that the ceilings in the building are very high, and some of the apartments are located on a mezzanine level between two floors.

Customer Reviews
Overall:
We had a lovely time and everyone we dealt with were very helpful and nice.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was very central and the property itself was nice and clean.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed was uncomfortable, but my biggest complaint was that there was a nearby bar open all night. We were never able to get a good night sleep. There was partying until the wee hours of the morning!
Surrounding Area:
It was close to everything, but not too busy.
Nearby Events or Locales:
All of Florence is close and walkable.
Tips or Restaurants:
There is a great little bakery right around the corner. We went to the central market on the other end of town and it was so much fun. You can get anything there. It was so great. They even have fresh made pasta and sauce, fresh meats and fruits and vegetables. We also rented a car just for the day and drove to wineries! A great day!

Overall:
Wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
The history of the property--a palazzo from the 15th century.
Enjoyed Least:
We found the upstairs bathroom was to be a bit dangerous with no handrails near the steps.
Surrounding Area:
History, restaurants, atmosphere.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in the city of Firenze. Everything was within walking distance.
Directions:
Used a GPS.

Overall:
This is a great apartment and would highly recommend it.
Enjoyed Most:
The building was beautiful and the apartment was too. The location could not have been better. You are right in the middle of everything. Having DSL connection was great and all the amenities.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed was pretty uncomfortable in the master bedroom. The place is so beautiful and I would have expected to have a comfortable bed to sleep on. Also, the trash is conveniently located outside, but that means that every morning between 6:30 and 7:00 the garbage trucks are coming and they are pretty noisy.
Surrounding Area:
Vivoli has great gelato and great cappuccinos to go. The restaurant in the building was very good. We were walking distance to every main attraction in the city. I would highly recommend staying here.
Tips or Restaurants:
Highly recommend ear plugs. The building was quiet for Florence standards. Bringing a bike lock was key for us since we had a toddler and we were able to lock the stroller up in the entry way of the building vs. needing to take it up to our apartment every day.
Directions:
Taxi drivers know exactly where the building is.
