This self-catering accommodation is just right for two families looking to vacation in Sicily together. Comprised of a main house and cottage, each with its own kitchen and washing machine, this villa in Italy also has a private swimming pool and a large estate full of citrus trees and olive groves. The town of Brucoli is a short drive away as is a sandy beach from this Sicilian villa.
- Location Description
-
The villa is located three kilometers from Brucoli, a village with shops, restaurants, and places to buy food as well as nice sandy beaches. Situated around a picturesque harbor, Brucoli is very quaint, features pretty views, and has a 15th century Norman castle which is a perfect spot to take pictures. Siracusa is less than an hour's drive away and is a great day trip destination. With a history that some say rivals that of Athens, Siracusa is full of ancient ruins and buildings that are home to several interesting churches and museums, including the Church of Santa Lucia and the Papyrus Museum. The oldest part of Siracusa, the Isle of Ortigia, is often considered the most charming as it's a place filled with monuments, palaces, and parks and even leads to the to beach. This town also of course has plenty of shops and restaurants for you to enjoy throughout your visit.
Nearby Attractions: Brucoli (beaches, shops, restaurants, food shops, 15th century castle), Agnone (sandy beach), Siracusa (churches, museums, shops, parks, palaces, ancient monuments, restaurants, beaches), Catania, Caltagirone.

Overall:
The property was very secluded and that was nice.
Enjoyed Most:
The villa was nice and big. It was very good for 4 couples.
Enjoyed Least:
Not a lot of scenery around the villa; it's view of the water is blocked by a hill. The pool is an above ground pool, as you can see in the pictures. There were dogs in the vicinity that barked at night.
Surrounding Area:
Syracuse was a very nice area. Brucoli had some nice restaurants. We used the villa as a base to travel the whole island.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Brucoli is the nearest town, but is not really within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Instructions on operating the washing machine and getting to the nearest supermarket are useful.
Directions:
I used a GPS and also had found the property on Google Earth, which helped. It is down some small roads and the GPS did not always know how to get the last half a mile into the property
Check In Out:
The check in and check out of the property went very well.

Overall:
This property was a little bit of heaven in Sicily. It was quiet, immaculately maintained in the interior and exterior and the acres of land were gorgeous with orchards of olives and lemons. We all had the same positive response to this villa.
Enjoyed Most:
A difficult question since everything was so perfect for us. I suppose we did like the idea that we weren't surrounded by other properties so it was very quiet and private. Loved the pool, which was a welcome relief from the heat. There were lots of areas on the patio area to lounge and read as well. We truly loved everything about this villa.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing to include here. I am sure that some people might be put off by the lack of air conditioning, but we don't like AC anyway. The overhead fans worked beautifully.
Surrounding Area:
See comments above about the acres of orchards. Also, the town of Brucoli was a gem of a village. There were NUMEROUS restaurants, fish markets, and mini-markets to choose from and the town is very lively at night. We tried to get to every restaurant during our two week stay and loved every one of them.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Brucoli was not within walking distance, but only a ten minute drive. The owner warned us that the heat would not make a long walk there very pleasant! An amazing little village and we were fortunate to be there during their big festival week--San Nicolo--which was great fun every night.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone. Worth every penny to stay here. If renters wanted to eat at home more often, there is an outdoor charcoal BBQ and full kitchen facilities in the villa and cottage. Grocery stores not difficult to find. Tons of fish choices, of course, since it's located on the sea. Our favourite restaurant in Brucoli was Al Castello, which was probably a bit more expensive than any other in town, but the food and service was exceptional. However, as stated above, every single restaurant we visited was great. For kids, tons of pizza choices as well. Very inexpensive food prices overall. Excellent Sicilian wines, although their reds are much better than the whites. Nero, Etna, Christina Kastanza were all great wines.
Check In Out:
The only issue we had was getting in touch with the owner when we arrived as his phone was not getting a signal and we were only receiving a 'caller unavailable' message on his phone. This took some time so we ended up driving to the property ourselves, using only the written directions and the owner was thankfully there waiting for us.
