About The Experience

In addition to being well located in the historic center, this Rome apartment near the Campo dei Fiori is filled with all those little extras that make a visit special: an American coffee maker, and even robes in the bathroom! This accommodation in Rome is perfect for a couple, with the cozy bedroom with a balcony-- and a sofa bed in the living room for any little ones that may be tagging along. Get up in the morning and enjoy coffee on the balcony of this Rome vacation rental before going out to explore the wonders of the city.

Location Description

This apartment is located on the Via Dei Gubbonari, about two minutes' walk away from the Piazza Campo dei Fiori in the historic center of Rome. This area lies between the Tiber and the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. It contains some of the most important historic buildings in Rome, including the Acrea Sacra del Largo Argentina, Chancery Palace, the Palazzo Farnese, the Capella del Monte di Pieta, and the Pantheon. The apartment itself is a fifteen-minute walk from the nearest underground station, Spagna. Nearby you will also find stops for the ATAC bus lines 40, 46, 62, 64, 70, 190, 571, and 916, as well as the electric bus lines 116 and 116T, and tram line 8. You can reach Termini train station by taking bus 70 from Largo Argentina; it takes about 10 minutes.

Nearby Attractions: Operating since 1869, the market of Campo dei Fiori is alive with colorful flower vendors and beautiful locally grown produce. Interestingly, the streets of this area are named after the artisans who traditionally occupied them such as Via dei Cappellari (hatters), Via dei Baullari (trunk makers) and Via dei Chiavari (key makers). For some of the best foccacia bread in the city, stop in at Forno Campo de’ Fiori for a warm slice. The Rigatoni all’Amatriciana at the famous La Carbonara Restaurant is a dish worth writing home about.

The narrow streets around Piazza Campo de' Fiori contain simple houses and austerely noble palaces standing side by side in quiet harmony. There is a fresh fruit and vegetable market every morning in the Piazza.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
Perfect location in Rome. Hassan's orientation was thorough and helpful. Contacts with the property manager were enabling and generous. Everything worked. Plenty of light and windows and breeze. Easy access to all locations.
Enjoyed Most:
We could walk anywhere in the city.
Enjoyed Least:
Minor things like no dish soap, no laundry detergent, a shortage of paper towels (not things we wanted to buy). Learned how to use a coffee press given that there is no other coffee maker (inconvenient for keeping coffee warmed).
Surrounding Area:
Every place we wanted to visit was within 30 minutes. We spent a lot of time in Trastevere which was just across the river.
Tips or Restaurants:
L'Invincible across the Ponte Garibaldi was superb and is highly recommended. We also enjoyed Roscioli (across the street from the apartment), though it was a bit pricey.

Enjoyed Most:
Location.
Enjoyed Least:
A little noisy at night, but not too bad.
Surrounding Area:
Fun, close to everthing.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurants in the plaza were great and you could walk across the river to lots of other good places.

Overall:
Excellent experience. Very well laid out apartment and very quiet.
Enjoyed Most:
Location Location Location. We walked everywhere in old Rome, Spanish Steps, The Vatican, Piazza Navonna, The Pantheon, Trastevere, and of course the Fourm and Colosseum.
Enjoyed Least:
Not much natural light.
Surrounding Area:
Very centrally located with everything within walking distance e.g. supermarket, bakery, coffee.
Tips or Restaurants:
There is so much choice. We used DK Rome Top Ten and it was an excellent guide for our tastes.
Directions:
The cost from Airport to Apartment is Euro 45 by Taxi...make sure to negotiate. This is the easiest and best way to get there. If you take the express train you'll still need a cab because it is too far to walk with your luggage and ends up costing you more.
