- About The Experience
-
This elegant accommodation in Rome is located in the heart of the city, between the Piazza Navona and the Tiber River. In the early 16th century, cardinals, ambassadors, papal officials, wealthy bankers and distinguished courtesans occupied the handsome palaces in the area around this apartment in Rome, Italy, many of which can be seen today. As you walk home from your daily expeditions out and about the city, you can imagine the area filled with the booksellers, engravers and artisans of the past. In fact, there are still numerous craftsmen to be found in the area.
- Location Description
-
This apartment is situated on Via di Parione in the Navona zone, which was once part of ancient Rome. It is about two blocks from the Piazza Navona, and within walking distance of the Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the Pantheon, and many other central Rome attractions. Except for the outline of Domitian's Stadium which is preserved in the shape of Piazza Navona, no traces of ancient Rome have survived here. Today the area is filled with 15th and 16th century palaces, whose somewhat plain facades conceal fine examples of Renaissance architecture. Public transportation: The apartment is a 10-minutes walk from the underground station, “Spagna”, and it is well served by the ATAC bus lines 70, 81, 87, 186, 204, 492, 628 and by the electric bus lines 116 and 116T.
Nearby Attractions: A monument to Roman Baroque style, the Piazza di Spagna is one of the best people-watching spots in Rome. Around the piazza are several very well-known tea rooms including the famous Babington’s English Tea Room and the Café Greco. The house where English poets John Keats and Lord Byron lived and died, is on the right hand corner, as one begins to climb the 138 steps. This is an ideal neighborhood for shopping (or window shopping) at famous boutiques such as Prada, Valentino, and Gucci (Via dei Condotti).

Overall:
Enjoyed our stay as there were many sights to see.
Enjoyed Most:
Close to everything. Short walk to taxi stand for the trip to the airport to pick up our rental car.
Enjoyed Least:
Beds were too firm and there was noise late night (it seems they party after midnight). There was a four-hour strike at the Colosseum during a tour we'd booked; thankfully; the tour provider provided an almost full refund.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We stayed close to our apartment but were able to visit almost everything we wanted. It was very hot the 3 days we were there.

Excellent. We loved the apartment layout. We loved that the caretaker's help was available when needed.
Enjoyed Most:
The large space and the comfortable feeling the surroundings provided.
Enjoyed Least:
The bathroom needed new caulking around the tub.
The bed could use some refreshing. Editor's Note: The owner will put new caulking around the tub. The bed was purchased a year ago.
Surrounding Area:
Loved the neighborhood, loads of restaurants, close to Piazza Navona.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nothing--well stocked apartment. All one needed to live and cook occasionally. Good shopping in the neighborhood.
Directions:
We found it easily with Google.
Check In Out:
Local agents were excellent. Very accommodating.
