Customer Reviews
Overall:
A perfect experience. The house is truly expertly designed and decorated -- we kept discovering new "finds" in the house every day -- yet so comfortable that it feels like you're staying in a friend's home. This also has to do with the personal accessibility to the owner and the caretakers, who while off-property, could not have been more accommodating.
Enjoyed Most:
The age and history of the building, the care, cleverness and detail of the remodeled design, the kitchen, the living rooms, the bathrooms, the gardenpool, the view.
Enjoyed Least:
The property is perfect. If forced to find any less-than-perfect attributes, perhaps it would be the town of Limoux itself, which while quite nice, it is a regular working town, not a postcard French village. We knew that going in, and liked the fact that there is real life being lived in the town with all the conveniences of that (restaurants, shops, pharmacies geared to the locals), but just mention as some travelers may be looking for the more quaint experience.
Surrounding Area:
The scenery of the surrounding areas, the tasting rooms, and the markets in Mirepoix, Esperaza, Limoux and Carcasonne.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Limoux - the main square is 3 minutes walk from the house.
Tips or Restaurants:
The house is thoroughly furnished. No need to bring anything besides any food items you may want with you immediately.
Domaine Gayda is a vineyard with an excellent tasting room and restaurant focusing on non-sparkling wines. About 15 minutes away in Brugairolles. The tasting and restaurant are both worth seeking out.
Directions:
Used GPS and had no problem finding the house.
Check In Out:
Check-in/out couldn't have been easier. Anne and Charles were very responsive and accommodating.

Outstanding!
Enjoyed Most:
The villa was so beautiful and artistically renovated, it was like being in a beautiful museum or art gallery. It was so spacious we had lots of room. And there were so many great castles and vineyards a short drive away.
Enjoyed Least:
No night life in the town, restaurants closed at 9.
Surrounding Area:
The many castles, and vineyards.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Yes, Limoux was only a 5 min walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't miss La Cite at Carcassonne and the castles Chateau de Puilaurens and Chateau de Termes, both with breathtaking scenery.
Directions:
It was easy to find using Google Maps.
Check In Out:
Simple and easy.

Overall:
The villa was spectacular - like being on a movie set. Overall it was a wonderful property inside and out.
Enjoyed Most:
The size of the bedrooms and ensuites, the quality of furnishings and decorations, the views and the flowers outdoors, the amount of space for 4 couples. The location for day tripping and the village.
Surrounding Area:
The Cathar castles, Carcassonne, abbeys and churches and too many vineyards and wine cellars to count. Many outdoor activities hiking, biking, kayaking etc.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The villa was in the village of Limoux. Many shops and restaurants a short walk away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ici La has amazing ice cream and live music on Friday night. We enjoyed Tantine and Tanton. The two star Michelin restaurant Le Parc in Carcassonne is worth the cost.

We used a GPS but the directions were perfect.
