Provence, France Villa rental with Private Swimming Pool

Overall:
Absolutely fantastic! We were made to feel very welcome with basics already in the fridge and cabinets such as butter, bread, jam, olive oil, milk, and coffee. A beautiful villa and surroundings.
Enjoyed Most:
Probably the fantastic view and beautiful gardens full of blooming lavender and other flowers. Having a beautiful pool and a covered patio for dinners were also a big plus! Also very nice to have access to a washer and dryer. They also supplied hair dryers and fans in the bedrooms, though the nights were comfortable and their were NO mosquitoes.
Enjoyed Least:
The couple that showed us around the property did not speak any English and we did not speak French! It would have been helpful to have instructions for basic things such as how to operate their oven, other appliances, where to take the trash and recycling, etc written down in English. We did manage for the most part.
Surrounding Area:
Excellent spot for day trips! We not only went into St. Remy en Provence 5 minutes away, but to Avignon, Pont du Gard, Les Baux-de-Provence, L' Isle sur la Sorgue, Gordes, Roussillon, and Les Baux-de-Provence!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Saint Remy en Provence was about a 5 minute drive away, with lovely cafes, restaurants, and shops.
Tips or Restaurants:
It is a bit tricky to find. Mostly because the two small stone signs on the ground were almost hidden by tall grasses! It is a long drive up before you make a hairpin turn to the right and head down the drive to the villa. You can't go wrong eating in St. Remy, though we mostly ate lunch out on our day trips and ate light dinners at the villa. The markets in the villages are wonderful! Bring wash cloths or a loofah as they only provide one bath towel per person, but do supply pool towels.
Directions:
It is tricky getting out of Avignon, but once you are on the road to Saint Remy, you are fine. They need to make the stones marking the turn into the drive to the villa larger and more noticeable.

The language barrier was the only issue.

Overall:
The house is beautiful and charming the bright yellow colors of the well-equipped kitchen, the marvelous covered outdoor patio, and the grand vistas of the Alpilles, to say nothing of the fabulous swimming pool, combined to make it a marvelous experience. The owners are gracious hosts who were kind enough to equip us with the first-night essentials including wine upon our arrival. We would gladly return, although we would probably choose another month other than August, very fine weather notwithstanding, due to the crowds in the towns -- it seemed half of Paris was in Provence this year. Provence is great fun - my first time there, even though I have spent substantial time in France and very beautiful. I don't think the photos on your site convey the beauty of the scenery.
Enjoyed Most:
The kitchen, the outdoor patio, the wonderful views, the swimming pool.
Enjoyed Least:
The beds are not the most comfortable in the world, but my experience tells me that comfy USA-style king-queen beds are not as much of a must-have item in many EU countries. My wife and I did just fine with the double bed. You may want to check with the owners re the bicycles, because we did not see them when we were there.
Tips or Restaurants:
The supermarche on the north end of town is open on Saturdays until at least 7 PM in the summer, and the boulangerie just before the market seems to be open on Sunday mornings. And I only wish I had a supermarket this good in the USA. One MUST have a rental car for this property.

Overall:
The villa, the pool and the landscaping were all beautiful. The house was extremely well equipped, particularly the kitchen and pool amenities. We had a fabulous time.
Enjoyed Most:
It is maintained beautifully inside and out. The owners were very friendly and provided lots of wonderful home-grown fruits, tomatoes, jam, olive oil, as well as wine and breakfast items.
Enjoyed Least:
Can't think of a single thing.
Surrounding Area:
St. Remy is a charming town, and within very easy driving distance. There are multiple wonderful places to visit - made it easy to relax at the pool and spend half a day exploring nearby towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
St.Remy de Provence - just 2km away. Not really walking distance, but you need a car anyway in the area.
Tips or Restaurants:
You need nothing for the house, they even have towels by the pool. Lots of great restaurants in St. Remy - our favorite was La Maison Jenune, a more authentic and equally delicious experience at La Reine Jeune.
Directions:
We did not use a GPS. If you pay very close attention the directions are very good. But - the stone markers are easy to miss. Daylight arrival makes finding the villa much easier - can't imagine finding it at night in the dark.
Check In Out:
The owners and their family were there to greet us, show us around the house and all its amenities and the provisions they provided. It was a great way to be welcomed.
