If a stay in a charming village near some of Italy’s most beautiful coast sounds like your kind of vacation, this is the villa for you. You can walk to a gorgeous beach or meander through the charming town of Lerici. Best of all, the famous UNESCO World Heritage towns of the Cinque Terre and Portovenere are accessible by ferry from Lerici. With comfortable furnishings and a small private pool overlooking the sea, this villa will be a great choice for a group of friends.

Location Description

This country villa is located in the Italian Riviera, in the residential community of Maralunga, overlooking the town and harbor of Lerici, as well as two small bays on the other side. The villa is about 50-60 meters above sea level, and faces one of these two quiet bays. The main road is 200 m away, and no traffic can be heard from the property. There is a 5-minute walk (800 meters) to the beaches, such as Lido, where you can rent umbrellas and chairs. There is a 10-15 minute walk (500 meters) to Lerici, where there are shops, restaurants, markets, two pharmacies, a post office and the harbor, and which can be reached also by car, though access is restricted in summer. The pedestrian pathway descends from the top of the promontory to the Lerici harbor, so it is a hilly descent and ascent.

Nearby Attractions: Portofino, Lucca, Forte dei Marmi (marble Fortress that is now a museum of satirical art, Wednesday market), Portovenere (Gothic church of St Peter from 1198, castle, Romanesque church of St Lawrence from 1098), Cinque Terre, La Spezia, Lerici (shops, restaurants, harbor, ferry).
Lerici is connected to La Spezia and other nearby places by bus. There is a bus stop 100 m from the villa; buses offer service to the town of Lerici and the beaches of Tellaro and Fiascherino. Situated along the Golfodei Poeti, Lerici is great for people watching and coastline gazing. There’s a charming harbor in the town that you can walk along, and a ferry can take you to Portovenere or to the Cinque Terre. The center of Portovenere has a waterfront shopping area, restaurants, and ferry services to other neighboring towns. Many locals come here, so you’ll be witness to a true view of Italian life. Other day trips include Portofino, Forte dei Marmi, and Lucca. The nearest autostrada exit is Sarzana, which is about 7 km from the property.

This charming villa has views of the sea from its private, fenced grounds, which include a poolside patio, shaded furnished terraces for al fresco dining, and gardens. There is also a very small private pool (5 m x 2 m, with Jacuzzi jets) lined with travertine marble. You can prepare meals in the shaded outdoor kitchen area and on the gas barbecue. A private parking garage is located 200 yards from the villa’s front gate. Just inside the gate there is a short staircase that leads down to the garden and the villa’s living room area.

Interior Description

From the entrance of the property there is a short pathway (20 meters) that descends to the entrance door of the villa, with a total of 16 steps spread into four comfortable sections. The villa features travertine flooring and wood throughout, and has free WiFi (code will be provided).

Ground Floor: The front door opens onto the living room, which has two comfortable sofas, a TV and large glass doors overlooking one of the villa’s terraces. Just off the living room is the kitchen, which has an electric oven, microwave, toaster oven, refrigerator with freezer, American coffee maker and dishwasher. The kitchen leads out to another panoramic terrace, which has a covered patio with an outdoor kitchen area for alfresco dining and pool views.

Lower Level (15 steps down): A staircase from the ground level leads to the lower level, which is the bedroom area. There are three air-conditioned bedrooms and a detached bedroom, with access only from outside. The land is terraced, so the back portion of the villa at this level has no windows. The air-conditioned master bedroom has a large queen-size bed (165 cm) and direct access to the garden, as well as an en-suite bathroom with a shower, sink, bidet and toilet. The second bedroom has air conditioning and two single beds (90 cm each) that can be combined to make a 180 cm king-size bed upon request. This room has direct access to the garden. The third bedroom has air conditioning, a large queen-size bed (165 cm) and direct access to garden. The second and third bedrooms share the second bathroom, which has a small bathtub, sink, bidet and toilet. The washing machine is also located here, with access from the hallway serving both rooms. The fourth bedroom, with access only from outside, with no internal access) has two single beds (90 cm each) that can be combined to make a 180 cm king-size bed upon request. This room also has an en-suite bathroom with a shower, sink, bidet and toilet.

Rooftop Terrace: In addition to the patio and gardens outside the lower level, and the terraces and gardens around the ground level, there is a roof solarium above the living room, accessible through an outside spiral staircase.

• Property is not well suited to children due to the terraced land, swimming pool and many balconies. Children, especially those under the age of 8, can never be left unattended.
• The villa is best suited to warm-weather rentals.
• Air conditioning is only available in 3 of the 4 bedrooms.
• The fourth bedroom only has external access (no internal access to rest of villa).
• The 90 cm single beds can be made into one 180 cm king-size bed upon prior request.
