About The Experience

Built in 1968 by a well-known artist, this villa close to Taormina is situated on a mountainside that overlooks the Mediterranean, in a quiet residential area. The beautiful terraced garden with panoramic views is the perfect place to spend afternoons with friends. The luxurious interiors are truly a work of art featuring many original Sicilian pieces, making for quite a unique experience. Guests will feel relaxed lounging or dining in the garden courtyard and can spend afternoons in the pool. The villa also has a large projector inside—so you can have movie nights with guests!

Location Description

The villa is located approximately 1.3 km from the main street of Taormina. Taormina has shopping, restaurants, cafes, and views of the sea and nearby Mount Etna. It has a rich history, as a former Greek and later Roman outpost, reflected in the town’s ruins and archeological sites. The spectacular well-preserved ancient Greek theatre – the second largest in Sicily – is perched on a rocky cliff overlooking the sea and Mount Etna. In the summer, there are concerts and other performances in the theatre. Below Taormina, the fishing village of Giardini Naxos has beaches, a fishing port, opportunities for boating, and restaurants specializing in fresh seafood. For even quicker access to the beach, you can take a gondola-style cable car from Taormina to Mazzaro Beach – the ride takes only a few minutes. Jeep tours of the volcanic Mount Etna are also available, and the cities of Messina and Catania are each about 50 km away.

Nearby Attractions: Catania is Sicily’s “grey” city, called such because many of the Baroque structures in the historic center were built in black volcanic rock. Sitting at the edge of the Ionian Sea—with Mount Etna looming in the background—Catania has good shopping and people watching as you stroll along Via Etna. There are plenty of good restaurants where you can try the town’s specialty Arancino—a rice croquette stuffed with meat, tomato sauce, peas, and cheese. In the Baroque city center—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—there are several striking churches to visit, however the city’s most renowned sight and symbol is the elephant fountain featuring a lava-rock elephant atop an Egyptian obelisk.

The villa sits on a mountainside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, in a quiet residential neighborhood. While there is no parking within the property, plenty of street parking is available. There is a private, tiled garden terrace full of exotic plant-life. There is seating and an alfresco dining table and beyond this the pool (5m x 8m) open the end April to the end of October, depending on the weather. The pool is surrounded by a safety net.

Interior Description

(480 m2/5,166 ft2)
Ground Floor: Entrance via the garden terrace will bring you to a large living area with two living rooms. One has plush couches, a TV, and direct access to the garden; the other has a large projector—which plays movies and gets TV channels—and access to the pool. The large modern kitchen has two ovens, a breakfast area, refrigerator with freezer, and a dishwasher. There is also a study, a dining room with seating for 8, as well as two guest bathrooms.

Mezzanine Level: (15 Steps Up from the living room) There is a suite with a 160 cm queen-sized bed and with en-suite bathroom with bathtub and shower and views of the sea.

First Floor: (6 Steps) A staircase off the living room leads to the upstairs bedrooms. The first is a small twin bedroom with narrow 80 cm twin beds and en en-suite bathroom with shower—this room has no window. The next room is large with two narrow 80 cm twin beds (can be arranged as a queen upon request) and an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and access to a large panoramic terrace with sea views. The final room is a suite with a 160 cm queen sized bed, a living room and study, an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and access to another panoramic terrace with views of Taormina and the sea.

• A Welcome Beverage, along with typical Sicilian food is provided upon arrival.
• The twin beds are 80 cm and narrow by US standards. They are most suitable for young people.
• One of the bedrooms has two twin beds that can be arranged as a queen upon prior request.
• The other twin-bedded room is small and has no window.
• Housekeeping is provided for 4 hours on Wednesday. Additional Housekeeping can be arranged for an additional fee.
