Overall:
We had a great time. The apartment was well-located, well maintained, and spacious.
Enjoyed Most:
The proximity to all that is going on in Rome. We were just down the street from the Colliseum and the Palatine Hill. Taxis were close by and we could easily go wherever we wanted.
Enjoyed Least:
The property itself was GREAT, but unfortunately, there is a bar directly below the apartment where revelers spill out onto the street, yell and scream and play loud music. Even with the windows closed (not what we would have preferred) the noise level was still disturbing. We had to wear ear plugs to sleep. Also, there is only one small sofa (2 seats) If 2 of us were on the sofa, the other 2 either had to sit on the hard dining table chairs or lay in bed. A second sofa would be a great addition.
Surrounding Area:
At least a dozen restaurants within a few blocks--we enjoyed every one we tried. Just observing everyday life in the city. There is a little fruteria right downstairs and we became well acquainted with the owners. They were our "go-to" stop. One block away was a virtual tour of old Rome which was so-so, but part of "when in Rome..".
Tips or Restaurants:
Luzzi's is a very popular restaurant right down the street, but was always way overcrowded. We stopped at sidewalk cafes, sometimes without any customers and the food was fabulous. Try the less busy places--you'll have a great meal.
Directions:
We took a taxi.
