About The Experience

This family-friendly apartment is located in the Chianti on a large estate that produces its own wine. The Tuscany estate is surrounded by olive groves, rolling hills, and vineyards that create a peaceful atmosphere. You and your group can take day trips throughout the Chianti to such charming towns as Panzano, Castellina, Gaiole and Greve, as well as to the art cities of Florence and Siena. Or you can simply relax by the pool!

Location Description

The property is located four kilometers from Panzano, a charming village that began as a medieval castle but is now home to shops and restaurants, among which is the butcher shop and restaurant run by the famous Dario Cecchini. A morning market is held every Sunday where you’ll be able to get flowers, vegetables, fruit, meet, and cheese. The “Vino al Vino” wine festival is held in September while the “Festa della Stagion Buona” begins in late April where the people of Panzano dress up in medieval costumes and put on live performances. For a fun day trip with wine tasting, visit Greve, which is the unofficial wine capital of Chianti. This medieval town is believed to have been settled before the Etruscans and the Romans dominated the area. Each September, Greve hosts the biggest wine festival in the region. It’s also famous for its arcaded Piazza Mercatale that has a statue of the 16th century explorer Verrazzano in the center. Other day trips can include Florence and Siena.

Nearby Attractions: Panzano (shop, restaurants, Sunday market), Greve (wine festival, wine shops, restaurants, shops), Castellina in Chianti (old fort, Via delle Volte, Castello, church of San Salvatore, shops, restaurants, markets, wine tasting), San Gimignano (towers, museums, restaurants), Florence (shops, restaurants, markets, cafes, railway station, Ponte Vecchio, Il Duomo, Uffizi Gallery), Siena (shops, restaurants, Piazza del Campo, Museo Civico)

Customer Reviews

Overall:
We had a brilliant time and would recommend this place to anyone and everyone who asks. We had the trip of a lifetime and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot to explore Tuscany. The Renvillas staff was very very helpful and patient with the booking process which should be noted. We were so excited to go and the trip exceeded our expectations of renting a villa for the first time. We will absolutely return, with more family members this time!
Enjoyed Most:
The location, the views, the privacy - the place was full but we still felt like we had a lot of private space. Titi was the most wonderful host. She was a delight and she made the trip special for us with her kindness. I truly cannot say enough about her. We were very late arriving due to a missed connection and she was available to let us in and get settled. She helped us make dinner reservations and gave us the history of the proeprty. She is a wonderfully warm person!
Enjoyed Least:
The only negative thing I will say is that the driving directions were hard to follow, especially for leaving the city of Florence. We landed at night and had a GPS that didn't work.

Overall:
From the moment we arrived we knew we had chosen the right place! This is a very peaceful spot with amazing views and lots of outside space to enjoy. Staff were only there at check in and check out which worked out fine.
Enjoyed Most:
The views, outside space, and the fact that it is a working vineyard/olive farm (and we could purchase wine and olive oil) made this place really special.
Enjoyed Least:
If I had to come up with a negative it is that our particular apartment had a rather small window in the living room and the wonderful view was not easy to see while seated.
Surrounding Area:
The setting of the property and the proximity to Panzano and Greve were great. We also easily did day trips to Siena and Florence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Panzano was only 2.5 KM but to walk there meant walking on the road. Greve is a bit further but it is possible to walk there on a path, which was a much nicer walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
We shopped on Saturday at a Coop and on Sunday morning in Panzano at the outdoor market. I recommend eating at Enoteca Baldi in Panzano, La Canlietti di Rignana in the other direction, and Ristoro Di Lamole in Lamole. It's a very winding road to get there but the view is incredible!
Directions:
Use the coordinates! The GPS sent us nearby but down a dirt road to a different destination.
