You'll have eleven floors all to yourself with this unique accommodation! This villa rental is located in the center of San Gimignano, which is where the movie "Tea with Mussolini" starring Maggie Smith, Cher,and Lily Tomlin was filmed, and is in the tallest tower where you will be able to see views of not only the surrounding buildings, but the Tuscan countryside as well, from your private terrace. Enjoy taking walks and meeting the locals or venture out further for some quiet time and privacy as you tour the natural landscaping of Italy while staying at this unique Tuscany accommodation.

Location Description

The apartment is situated in a prime location in the center of the medieval hilltop town of San Gimignano which dates back to the 10th century. San Gimignano is one of the most visited towns in Tuscany and is full of life and things to do. You are literally steps away from the famous towers, the 12th century Duomo, the People's Palace, and museums dedicated to artwork and archeology. There are also plenty of wine tasting, art galleries, shops, and delicious restaurants. Numerous celebrations and gatherings are held every year including a music festival featuring theater, ballet, and opera performances, and a Medieval Harvest festival where the people of San Gimignano dress up as knights and play medieval games and have tournaments. If you’d like to explore bigger cities in Italy, a local bus can take you to the town of Poggibonsi where there is a train station that can connect you to destinations like Siena, Florence, or Pisa. Cars are not allowed in the historical center of San Gimignano, but it is possible to ask for special permission in order to reach the house to unload luggage and park the car in one of the public car parks outside of the town walls.

Exterior Description

One of only fourteen existing towers in the city of San Gimignano, this tower apartment is the only one available to sleep in. It was built in the 13th century by the Salvucci family and at 48 meters, is the highest tower in the city. There are ten floors connected by 160 steps and the top floor features a private terrace furnished with a table and chairs and has panoramic views of the city and countryside. This is not an apartment for the very young or the very old, since there are so many levels and stairs.

Interior Description

Second Floor: To the right is a kitchen corner equipped with a cook-top and a refrigerator with freezer. To the left is dining area with a table and chairs as well as a window seat.

Third Floor: There is a sitting area with a bench overlooking the dining room.

Fourth Floor: There is a bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower.

Fifth Floor: There is a table with three chairs.

Sixth Floor: There are two 90 cm single beds.

Seventh Floor: There is a 130 cm French bed (comfy for one, cozy for two) that pulls down from the wall.

Eight Floor: There is a sitting area with a chair.

Ninth Floor: There is a guest bathroom with a toilet.

Tenth Floor: There is a second kitchen corner equipped with a cook-top and a refrigerator with freezer.

Eleventh Floor: This floor opens to the terrace.

Twelfth Floor: A private terrace is furnished with a table and chairs and offers views of the town and surrounding landscape.

Features Description

Please Note:

• This villa rental is not suitable for children or people who are not very fit, as there are 160 steps connecting the floors and there is no elevator.
• Cars are not allowed in the center of San Gimignano, but it is possible to ask for special permission in order to reach the house with your luggage.
