- Location Description
-
This villa is located on the eastern coast of the Peloponnese in Greece, a short drive from the village of Ermioni. Ermioni, formerly Hermione, is a quaint little village that sits on an outcrop facing the island of Hydra. Although it does not have a sandy beach, it is still quite possible to go swimming. The primary industry here is still fishing, and because the high speed Dolphin boats stop here it is easy to get to and from the nearby islands. There are also some interesting ruins at one end of town. Conveniences include a bank, police station, post office, and town square. Nearby Kranidi is the provincial capital. This larger town has beaches, windmills, and historic sights like the chapels of Santa Anna and Pantanassa, cared for by nuns (female visitors please wear skirts). In addition to the towns many other chapels and churches, you will find the church of St Anagyroi, where there are woodcuts and a library of rare manuscripts. Another fun excursion is the island of Hydra, where there are no cars. The only means of transportation here are donkeys, water taxis, and your own two feet! Fortunately everything is within walking distance, and there are many water and outdoor activities available. If you're interested in Greek myth, Troizina (formerly Troezen) was the birthplace of Theseus, and is reportedly the location of a spring where Pegasus once touched the ground.

Overall:
Outstanding...the property exceeded our expectations...We felt instantly at home and could negotiate the area easily. The house was well equipped and the housekeeper came every other day to clean..
Enjoyed Most:
The pool and view from all the rooms looking out over the Aegean couldn't be equalled. There were a lot of us and there was plenty of space. It truly was one of the prettiest places we have ever been.
Enjoyed Least:
The road getting to the property was very bumpy but once we were used to it, no problems. There were some mosquitoes but they didn't really pose a problem..We got a couple of extra fans and closed up at night to keep them out and outside, no one got bit.
Surrounding Area:
This is in a very interesting part of Greece and the day trips we took were great. The scenery is just beautiful. There are beaches around but we enjoyed the pool mostly especially after a day of sight seeing.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ermione is the nearest town but not within walking distance . It had everything we needed and only a 5 minute drive away.
Tips or Restaurants:
The house has everything!!!!!. The restaurant we enjoyed was Cavos. A few local people recommended it and we liked it so much, we went back. Also, right next to the tourist office in the main square is a pink building that says "take out". They have a huge list--including pizza--and if you order in the morning they will have it ready by evening. We found that Ermoine doesn't have a lot of English speakers which was fine..Everyone was so nice and we had no problems communicating.. Not spoiled by tourism yet.

Overall:
We had a great time at the Villa! The best view EVER! It was a wonderful vacation and I'm glad we didn't stay in Athens. It was nice to visit Athens for the day and return to the views of the villa.
Enjoyed Most:
The property owners were very nice and welcoming. The pool was great for the children and the villa was very cute. AC worked GREAT in the bedrooms. It was hot in the bedrooms without AC since you couldn't open the windows with all the mosquitoes at night. No problems during the day though.
Enjoyed Least:
You need a strong stomach to handle the drive to the villa. It's okay once you get used to it, but a little nerve-wracking initially.
Surrounding Area:
Ermioni was a nice town and a great hub to visit other islands.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ermioni is the nearest town and definitely not within walking distance. It's not far though and we found everything we needed there.
Tips or Restaurants:
A spatula would have been nice in the kitchen, but it was well stocked otherwise.
Directions:
We used a GPS and it was completely lost on several occasions. Probably best to map it out first to make sure the GPS is correct. It couldn't find the actual Villa either, but this wasn't a problem.
Check In Out:
No problems at all.

Overall:
The property was lovely and the owner very welcoming.
Enjoyed Most:
The views were wonderful as was the peace and quiet. It is located near to a small town unspoilt by tourism at the moment. The property owner who met us on arrival couldn't have been more welcoming. Pool excellent, large size and deep enough for diving at one end.
Enjoyed Least:
Rather a long bumpy track to the property. Good in many ways as it maybe deterred people from using it but we were concerned about the rental car's suspension!
Surrounding Area:
Good tavernas-restaurants in Ermioni.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ermioni - not within walking distance
Directions:
Would have been difficult to find if we hadn't been met in Ermioni
