Located near Lucca in the Vorno Valley, is this ancient structure originally used as a mill and farmhouse. It has been beautifully restored and features simple lines and traditional materials such as stone, handmade brick, rough hewn beams, and terracotta. The ancient rooms of the old mill have been transformed into luxurious living rooms: the old stable on the ground floor is now a dining room with vaulted ceilings and traditional stonework. The house is furnished in rustic, elegant style, including period furniture and objets d'arts. The property is surrounded by typical Italian gardens (7000m2) filled with potted lemons, olive trees, pines, camellias, wisteria, roses, lavender, and rosemary. A small brook runs through the garden. The pool (16m x 8m) has an area for children and an area for advanced swimmers. The swimming pool is open May 1st through October 1st. An ornamental gazebo equipped with a dining table is located next to the pool. There are comfortable deck chairs, lounges, and a barbecue. Golf (30 minutes), tennis (10 minutes), and horseback riding (15 minutes) are also a short drive away. The property is within easy driving distance of Lucca (10 minutes), Pisa (20 minutes), Puccini Lake (20 minutes), Florence (50 minutes), Siena (1.5 hours), and the Garfagnana Valley (35 minutes). Vorno, Badia di Cantignano, and Coselli are within a fifteen-minute walk of the villa. The nearest shops are in Vorno and Badia di Cantignano, which can be reached in three minutes by car. There is a bus stop 100 meters from the property. There is parking available on the grounds for five cars. A baby bed is available. Pets are not allowed. The services of a manager, gardener, and maid are included in the price. The services of a cook and babysitter are available upon request.

All rooms include climate controls. Note: All windows are equipped with screens. The amenities include: air conditioning, central heating, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, computer with Internet access, telephone/fax machine with computerized billing, stereo/CD player, satellite TV, alarm, barbecue, and mountain bikes. Extra services included in the price: daily breakfast service, eight hours of daily maid service six days per week, fresh pool towels, bed linens changed weekly, bath linens changed twice weekly. The services of the cook for three dinners per week are also included in the price. The first of these dinners can be arranged on the night of the arrival. The cost of food and beverages are not included, and the required deposit for this service is $1,700. The actual cost of the week's food and beverage will be deducted from the deposit, and the remainder of the funds returned at the end of the week; this is separate from the security deposit. Particular dishes and wines may be requested. Extra services for which there is an additional charge: grocery shopping prior to arrival, telephone/fax/internet usage, laundry, babysitting, airport transfers, cook services for additional lunches and dinners. Gratuities are not included. The property managment always arranges a free standard food pack for the first day of arrival(coffe, tea, milk, orange juice, sugar, eggs, ham, white wine, mineral water, cheese, toilet paper, dish soap, and other items). Special requests should be made prior to arrival.

Overall:
This property is charming, and sits back in the Lucca hills on beautiful grounds. The view is brilliant and can be seen from the masterbedroom windows for gazing. The dining table is nicely set up, and still houses a view underneath of the old olive mill workings. The owner and caretaker are real jems and extremely accomodating. It is very quiet, secluded, and close to the city of Lucca to take in shopping, good food, fine wine, and gelato!
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds are pleasant to walk around on, and the pool in nice during the evenings. The living space is very comfortable and inviting, with being luxurious and having all the modern amenities. The kitchen is nicely equipped for cooking, and you have the option of some meals being prepared for you. Every room can be adjusted for specific temperatures and music, which is nice perk on top of everything else.
Unpleasant Surprises:
None. (a tip) A rental car is necessary.
Surrounding Area:
Lucca is a charming city and within driving distance is Florence, Siena and Pisa. (although the train can all be taken to those places as well)! The view from the back is tranquil and is an exquiste example of Tuscan countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The city of Lucca within the walls is a nice place to shop and dine.
Tips or Restaurants:
Good local pizzeria in town;ask the owners for the name!
