Enjoyed Most:
Central location to all sites. The property was bright and sunny and very comfortable.
Unpleasant Surprises:
No bathroom counter space.
Surrounding Area:
Easy short walk to Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, shopping, Piazza Signoria, Piazza della Republica.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't miss going to the Piazza del Mercato Centrale where you can purchase fruit, vegetables, meats and cheese for a picnic. Don't need to bring anything. It is supplied with all kitchen utensils, iron and ironing board. The small washing machine works great. Be sure to get good instructions from the representative. This property came with an informative book which contained information about restaurants, museums, local doctors, etc, which we found very helpful. Bring zip lock bags for a variety of uses. Things like bar soap and laundry soap can be purchased when you arrive. Restaurants Bargello in Piazza Signoria. Aqua al Due, 4 Leoni, and Il Latini.
Directions:
We suggest you take a cab from the train station to the property management office.

Overall:
The help from the Rentvillas staff was great. If safety is a concern, we felt very safe in the neighborhood.
Enjoyed Most:
The central location in Florence. Having a washing machine and kitchen was nice, too.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The street noise outside at night.
Surrounding Area:
Within Florence, everything was within walking distance. Outside of the city, the countryside was beautiful. It was fun driving in the country, but getting into and out of the city by car was a bit nerve-wracking.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring money--everything in Italy is expensive, except the trains. I was not impressed with the restaurants in Florence. Every place serves the same thing. The pasta was very good, but the second courses were hit or miss - mostly miss. The pastries and ice cream were excellent. As for the pizza, any mom and pop pizzeria in New York is 10 times better.

Enjoyed Most:
The apartment location was amazing - we were close to everything.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The bathroom was a little small.
Surrounding Area:
Everything! From the music drifting through the windows in the evening, to the accessibility of the historic district. The evening's walk through the Piazza Signoria, past the Uffizi, along the Arno, onto the Ponte Vecchio and then back again past the Mercato Nuevo and Il Porcellino was always something to which I looked forward.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Fiesole was the closest. It was an easy bus ride on bus 7.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure you make reservations for dinner. The less touristy restaurants usually require them. Aqua al Due was fantastic.
