Overall:
We had a great time at Marcus Aurelius. Great people watching spot.
Enjoyed Most:
It was a great location. Close to all the Roman points of interest. 25 minute walk to the Vatican. 30 minute walk to the Coliseum. 15 minutes to Trevi Fountain. 25 minute walk to Spanish Steps.
Enjoyed Least:
Second bedroom was a little small. Tough to sleep if it was a very hot day as the Campo dei Fiori area is very active until 2:00am or so. The apartment did have double-pane windows so it was fairly quiet when the windows were closed.
Surrounding Area:
We didn't have a bad meal the whole time. Food was reasonable in Trastevere, the Jewish Ghetto or the Campo de Fiore. There are good bakeries in the area and good delicatessens are available.
Tips or Restaurants:
We had no problem with insects of any kind even though it was pretty warm. The apartment was very well stocked with dishes and supplies. Really no need to bring anything because there are stores in the area. Marco and Hassan did a good job of arranging transportation to and from the airport and taking care of any problems we had.
Directions:
I don't think I would attempt to find the property in a car. There is absolutely no place to park.
Check In Out:
Process was very easy.

Overall:
Great.
Enjoyed Most:
Location.
Surrounding Area:
Location.

Donna, June

Overall:
Overall, we loved living in this area of Rome.
Enjoyed Most:
The location on this pedestrian street was terrific. We could walk out the door and find everything we needed within 5 minutes.
Enjoyed Least:
The noise at night particularly on the weekend was loud. Earplugs helped somewhat, but be prepared. This apartment faces the street and is on the second floor. The dryer took forever and air drying is best.
Tips or Restaurants:
Trastevere area has many trattorias and many are reasonably priced even with the Euro sticker shock.

Stephanie, May

Enjoyed Most:
Outstanding location in a lively neighborhood with great access to all parts of Rome.
Enjoyed Least:
No outdoor space - terrace or patio Minor maintenance issues such as burned out lights, plugged shower heads etc.
Surrounding Area:
Great mix of shops, restaurants, bars and services at your doorstep.
Nearby Events or Locales:
In the center of the old city of Rome.
Tips or Restaurants:
No radio or alarm clocks in the unit so bring your own if desired. WiFi access would be appreciated.
Directions:
Easy to find.
Check In Out:
The local agent was great - simply called from the airport and he met us at the unit, showed us everything we needed to know and our vacation was underway in 10 minutes flat.

Gia, September

Overall:
The property was clean, safe and very comfortable. The apartment was terrific. The location, the amenities and the convenience of an apartment over a hotel room were great, especially when there were 5 of us. The car arrangements to and from the airport worked just as planned. The apartment owner was extremely helpful, especially when we needed immediate dental help. The Rentvillas.com staff were right on target with their help and recommendations.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was central to everything. A great bakery was right across the street. The bedrooms gave us ample privacy that a hotel room could not.
Enjoyed Least:
It was difficult to sleep a few nights as the crowds going up and down Via Giubonnari were quite loud till 1:00am.
Surrounding Area:
We were able to walk everywhere. Campo di Fiori was right there and was filled with markets, restaurants, bars and people. Our street, Via Giuobinnari, was a bit noisy at night for sure, so I would recommend earplugs for those light sleepers. We celebrated our anniversary with a private Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica for our family on Friday (at 7 AM). We attended the Papal audience on Wednesday. We walked to the Vatican, the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and all the shopping spots. I think we took one taxi all week. We took a bus to the Apian Way to see the catacombs. Campo di Fiori was right up the end of the street and Piazza Navone was 2 blocks away. There were restaurants, shops, bars, food markets and even entertainment all right there, minutes away.
Tips or Restaurants:
We ate at 3 of the restaurants in Campo di Fiori - all were excellent and reasonable. We had dinner at the Italian beer brewery, Birrera Peroni, near Trevi Fountain, and had excellent German and Italian food and it was the cheapest meal all week. Ear plugs would be a good thing to bring to insure you get sleep!!

Jim, November

Overall:
If you are uncomfortable away from a suburban North American life style, then this apartment is not for you. If you travel to experience local life and culture and want to experience an urban Roman lifestyle with young adults or older teenagers then this is an ideal locations.
Enjoyed Most:
Centrally located in Rome. If you are fit you can walk to all of the major attractions. It is close to Campo dei Fiori, a very popular night spot for young Romans and backpackers as well. We were travelling with older children, 22, 19 16. The location was a major attraction.
Enjoyed Least:
Noisy until about 2:30 at night. Even though the property is several hundred meters from Campo dei Fiori, many of the revellers returned home on our street.
Surrounding Area:
Campo dei Fiori is a great market from 8 - noon and a great night spot as well. Also, 30 minutes walking distance to all well know attractions in Rome.
Tips or Restaurants:
Vecchia Roma is in the Jewish Ghetto, about a 12 - 15 minute walk and is very good. Lots of good restaurants on or near Campo dei Fiori.
Check In Out:
Marco was excellent.

Henry, June

Enjoyed Most:
Excellent location. Close to everything. The apartment offered amenities that we were accustomed to.
Enjoyed Least:
Saturday evening it was a little loud on the street below.
Surrounding Area:
Too much to say. Everything.
Tips or Restaurants:
No need to bring anything. The apartment was well equipped.

Patrick, April

Enjoyed Most:
The apartment is in a great location for sightseeing. It's just off the Campo dei Fiore---lots of nice shops, cafes, etc., in the neighborhood and you can easily walk to most of the main tourist attractions. The apartment itself is attractive, the master bathroom is quite spacious, and it's convenient to have a washer and dryer.
Enjoyed Least:
The Campo is extremely noisy at night. As an American, I'm ashamed to say that the American college students who are studying abroad are the problem. They get disgustingly drunk in the bars around the Campo every night, and they talk, laugh, sing, shout and toss beer bottles onto the street. About the time they begin to quiet down, the street cleaner arrives, to try to deal with the mess they have left behind.
Surrounding Area:
The market, the shops, cafes and convenience.
Tips or Restaurants:
Walk over to Trastevere. It's full of wonderful, delicious restaurants. Our favorite was La Fraschetta on Via S. Francesco a Ripa, 134.
Directions:
Maximillian arranged a driver to meet us at the airport which was very helpful--also a taxi for us when we left.

Robin, March

Overall:
We loved the location of the property.
Enjoyed Most:
We like the fact that you could walk to many of the sites in Rome. There were many restaurants within walking distance.
Enjoyed Least:
It could have been cleaner - dust under and behind beds. There is no oven but there is a microwave and burners. The apartment is very noisy on the street and in the hall of the building.
Surrounding Area:
We like the market area and being able to walk to the forum, Colosseum etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a hair dryer.

Nancy, November

Enjoyed Most:
The location!!
Enjoyed Least:
The property could have been better furnished i.e. workable coffee pot, dishwasher didn't work right.
Surrounding Area:
So close to the markets and all of the sites.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be prepared to eat out more than in, due to the kitchen.
Directions:
Directions were good -- it was very difficult driving through Rome to find the apartment. I would recommend that you do not try to drive to this property.
Check In Out:
Even though it was difficult finding the property by car -- the property host was great. Marco came to get us on his scooter so we could find the apartment.

Marie, October

Overall:
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and loved staying in the apartment rather than a hotel. In our minds, the rental rate was pretty high, but so was everything else in Italy this year.
Enjoyed Most:
It's location. We especially liked being right in the Campo Fiori neighborhood. Lots of restaurants, shops, bars and of course, the daily market.
Enjoyed Least:
The noise from the surrounding area was quite loud at night, however, it was completely drowned out when we closed the windows and shutters.
Surrounding Area:
The daily food market and 2 local bakeries. There was quite a lot of valuable and useful places in the area - a bank, bakery, bar, small grocery, a spa, taxi stand, bus stop and gelatteria.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a good hair dryer with adapter. Several good restaurants were recommended by our Italian cousins - Al Bozzi, Nanas, Santa Padre. We tried them all and loved them.

Elizabeth, September

Enjoyed Most:
The great location.
Enjoyed Least:
The late night partiers on the street Saturday night. Sunday and Monday were fine.
Surrounding Area:
The market at Campo dei Fiori and the ease of walking to Ancient Rome and great shopping.
Tips or Restaurants:
Do a walking tour of Ancient Rome. It was great to have someone explain everything to us and tell us the stories behind the sights. Two restaurants withing walking distance that were not to miss are Ristorante del Pallaro - literally a 3 minute walk from the apartment, and Myosotis about a 10 minute walk. Both are writen up in the Frommers guide and they are worth a visit. Blue Ice, a great gelatto joint is off another side street of Campo dei Fiori. Best gelatto we had in Italy.
Directions:
The cab driver knew exactly where to take us. He wasn't able to drive down our street though, due to the market in Campo dei Fiori
Check In Out:
The local agent was great and very accommodating.

Belva, July

Overall:
The apartment was spacious and is in a great location. Don't be turned off by the ubiquitous graffiti in the neighborhood. It's a good, and safe area for tourists and also allows visitors to experience Rome as its inhabitants do.
Enjoyed Most:
The location, atmosphere and decor were all excellent. The kitchen had very nice dishes, and plenty of them. The washer and dryer worked well once we figured them out. The owner has provided a notebook with instructions on using all the appliances, and has included information about transportation, the location of a supermarket and pharmacy, that were very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
The tile floors were needed cleaning. The iron was very old and we didn't dare use it. The hair dryer didn't work well.
Surrounding Area:
We were within easy walking distance of the best areas in Rome including the Campo dei Fiore, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. The area is quite lively and we felt safe there.
Tips or Restaurants:
If anything, I wished I had brought less. With laundry facilities in the apartment, I could have brought fewer clothes. Any toiletries or nonprescription medical supplies needed can easily be purchased nearby. Bringing a travel-size hair dryer is a good idea for anyone who wants to use one. I wish I had brought my travel iron.
Check In Out:
Check-in was a breeze. I called the office from the airport, left a message, and the local contact called me back promptly with instructions to call as soon as I arrived at the train station. I then took a taxi to the apartment, where I was met.

Barbara, June

Overall:
We would use the facility again. It is well located and tastefully decorated.
Enjoyed Most:
Location is the best. You walk out your front door and you are part of the action. Fifty yards to the piazza, Campo dei Fiori, which is a market in the morning and cafes and restaurants from 2PM until late in the night.
Enjoyed Least:
Rome is full of graffiti and your street is no exception.
Surrounding Area:
Convenience. Cafes and restaurants nearby. Walk to Piazza Navona in 10 minutes, Trevi fountain, 10 minutes. Many other monuments and sites in the area.
Directions:
We took a taxi from the train station - 15 minutes, 14 Euros. We called the property manager from the train station, and Marco was waiting for us at the property. Marco was very helpful and provided a great recommendation for lunch.
Check In Out:
Very professional. Prompt and efficient.

David, May

Overall:
I would visit here again in a flash, and I would recommend it happily. The photos do not do the property justice. We were thrilled with everything...
Enjoyed Most:
Location was perfect!!! We walked everywhere, to all the sights and restaurants. The local representatives were great.
Enjoyed Least:
Everything was great, although the eating area was small for 5 adults, and that was the only place to eat, given there was no patio or garden.
Surrounding Area:
The buzz of people, shops, restaurants, fresh market, and safety of the area.
Tips or Restaurants:
With a grocery store two blocks away, and very handy, you don't need to bring a thing.
Directions:
We arranged through Rentvillas to have a driver pick us up at the airport and bring us to the property, so there were no difficulties whatsoever.
Check In Out:
We were met at the door by Max, after placing a telephone call when we landed, as requested. The check-in was smooth and quick, we were able to leave luggage at the property, since our flight arrived at 9:00am and check-in time was not until 5:00pm. So we spent the day orienting ourselves with the area. The property was ready early, so we were accommodated by the local representataive to move in before 5:00pm.

Franco, May

Enjoyed Most:
Location, and the way the apartment was properly outfitted, especially the kichen. Very nice to have a working phone, and two bathrooms.
Enjoyed Least:
Small second bedroom.
Surrounding Area:
Great location. Fun area, easy access to all points, fabulous markets, shops, churches.
Tips or Restaurants:
L'Osteria Romana and Vecchia Romana are two excellent restaurants. The Fried Cod shop next to the little church up the street is a National treasure.

Ann , December

Overall:
We were very comfortable and pleased with the property. We are returning in May 2005 and look forward with great anticipation.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything! We loved the location, size and amenities of the apartment.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing. The only drawback may be the added noise on the weekends from late night revelers but we adjusted and it added interest to the location.
Surrounding Area:
Its vibrancy and diversity. So many of the sites were within walking distance. It's proximity to Campo di Fiori and Trastevere were a plus.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment was well equipped. We only ate breakfast in. Check the notebook in the apartment, it gives the location of the grocery stores, etc. Three restaurant recommendations are Osteria da Giovanni ar Galletto in Piazza Farnese, Tratoria der Pallaro - no menu - it's a five-course meal, Largo del Pallaro, and Ristorante Grotte del Teatro di Pompeo, Via del Discione, which is near the apartment.
Directions:
We arranged for pick up at the airport. Our driver was waiting for us and got us to the apartment easily. We were also picked up on time and arrived at the aiport with no delay.

John , October

Overall:
Wish I owned it!
Enjoyed Most:
I liked the location and the layout of the site with the master bedroom in the back with good peace and quiet. Your pictutes do not do justice to the layout of the living room and kitchen area. We cooked every day and it worked well for 5 people. The hide a bed in the living room was of good quality.
Enjoyed Least:
Only had one knife other than steak knives and it was a bread knife -- hard to chop vegatables.
Surrounding Area:
The location is outstanding. 2 minutes to Campo Di Fiori and its wonderful daily farmers' market. We shooped every morning for vegatables, fruit, fish, and meat. Even on Sunday, to my surprise, the market was populated with vendors who sold wine, cheese, olive oil, etc. 15 minutes to Vatican or old Rome---walking time. We rented a car for the last couple of days, and even parking was not bad.
Directions:
We took a cab from the train station. Gave the driver the address and he got us right to it.
Check In Out:
Max was great and very helpful. We did have trouble making the phone work and could have used some advice or directions. We never were able to make local calls. Bought a phone card and used the pay phone which worked out fine. Calling cards to home and receiving calls worked just fine.

Chuck, April

Overall:
The apartments were large enough to comfortably accommodate the advertised number of persons. It was clean and all appliances worked properly. The beds were comfortable. The rental agent who met us in Rome, Massimiliano, couldn't have been better. He was extremely helpful, cordial, caring and all-around great!
Surrounding Area:

Convenient location, we could walk to many sites we wished to visit. Because of the location there was street noise especially in the evenings, but it is central Rome and close to restaurants, bars, and markets.

September

Overall:
Perfectly located in the heart of Ancient Rome. Walking distance to all of the tourist sites and close to many good restaurants and shops. The apartment was very clean and well furnished, with adequate air conditioning to remain comfortable in the heat wave that hit Rome at that time. Comfortable for four people, five would be a bit crowded.
Enjoyed Most:

The central location and proximity to Campo de Fiori.

June

Overall:
We had a very pleasant experience - the management staff, accommodations, and location were all great. We were particulary pleased that the manager, who was very punctual about greeting us when we arrived and being there at the designated time of departure so that we didn't have to worry about missing our plane.
Enjoyed Most:
Very spacious - easily accommodated a party of 4.
Enjoyed Least:
No complaints.
Surrounding Area:
Great location! There were wonderful restaurants, cafes, and eateries within walking distance, and the piazzas were beautiful. Also, there were plenty of shops to browse thru.
Tips or Restaurants:
All supplies were amply provided. There were numerous great restaurant finds, unfortunately, I can't recall the names. We didn't experience a bad meal during the entire visit! No dieting allowed!
Check In Out:
No complaints - everything went VERY smoothly!
