Customer Reviews

Overall:
We loved being in the middle of all the activity! Via dei Giubbonari was active during the day, but because we were above street level, the night activity was not intrusive. We found the apartment location convenient by walking to most of the sites in which we were interested. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the bathrooms were adequate for our needs.
Enjoyed Most:
Ready access to historical sites within easy walking distance (10-30 minutes). Easy access to many enjoyable restaurants, neighborhood and Campo Dei Fiori. The apartment was our quiet refuge after the day's (and night's) activities.
Enjoyed Least:
The elevator! It was tiny, and the warnings/instructions about getting stuck in the elevator were genuinely frightening.
Tips or Restaurants:
Future renters should be aware that there is a cook top, but there is no oven - only a microwave. We did not cook so it was not necessarily a problem, but if you intend to cook...
Directions:
Directions to the property were fine, but we had arranged a taxi at the airport. Our experience with Rome taxis was largely positive.
Check In Out:
I was under the impression that the utilities would be covered after checkout using the "deposit" amount approved on the credit card. However, at check in, we were asked to provide a daily payment up front. There was an additional charge for Sunday check in. More than one key would have been helpful.

Gail, July

Overall:
It was nice and spacious, good area.
Enjoyed Least:
The linens (sheets and towels) should be upgraded/replaced.
Surrounding Area:
The square near the apartment was a fun and happening area.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring soap.

Susan, July

Overall:
Was a very good experience. Excellent location. Bedrooms were big and there was plenty of sleeping room. Was a very secure building and the "lift" was very helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The location!!!!! It was also very quiet considering how close we were to the Campo dei Fiori.
Surrounding Area:
Great walking distance to the Ghetto, Forum, Pantheon, Tiber River and attractions across the river, and the Vatican. We never took public transportation as we could walk everywhere.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Did not leave Rome once we were there.
Tips or Restaurants:
This apartment had plenty of dishes and utensils. Will have to go to the store for kitchen supplies and bathroom supplies but there was a store nearby. Better to buy these types of supplies once settled.
Directions:
Cars could not drive on our "street" so the cab dropped us off nearby, but a short walk to the apartment.
Check In Out:
We had planned to check out early (7:30) but our flight was delayed; we called and made arrangements to stay until 11:00 a.m., which was nice.

Kathy, May

Overall:
Location was great for everywhere we went, pretty central. We walked everywhere.
Enjoyed Most:
Location.
Surrounding Area:
Lots if shopping and good eating, the market is right there.
Directions:
Took a cab from airport. We weren't too sure where to go once we were let off, as there are no vehicles allowed on the street at certain times.

Susan, May

Excellent location for visiting all the major sites in Rome.
Enjoyed Most:
1. Location 2. Safety 3. Easy access to markets
Enjoyed Least:
Not a five star hotel but we did not ask for this.
Surrounding Area:
Near the Vatican.
Tips or Restaurants:
Plan ahead for the Vatican Museums.
Directions:
Used a taxi from the train station with the address provided.

Kyran, October

Overall:
Enjoyable.
Enjoyed Most:
I enjoyed the location of the property being very central to so many sites in Rome.
Enjoyed Least:
I felt it could have been updated.
Surrounding Area:
Very close in proximity to so many Rome sites.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Right in the center of Rome and was in walking distance of all the major museums and historical attractions.
Tips or Restaurants:
Enjoyed the market at Campo di Fiori and a restaurant in Trastevere called La Mondo.

Nancy, July

Overall:
We were very pleased with the apartment. We had stayed in the building previously in a different apartment. Everything went very smoothly except for the TV. But who goes to Rome to watch TV?
Enjoyed Most:
Location and convenience.
Enjoyed Least:
If someone had very heavy bags there are still some stairs - 4 or 5 - to navigate once you are off the lift.
Surrounding Area:
Walkable to everything.
Check In Out:
Hassan was friendly and helpful.

Carlos, May

Overall:
Wonderful location, walking distance to all sites. We had one of the best vacations. We loved shopping at the open market in the piazza five minutes away.
Enjoyed Most:
We were able to walk from the apartment to all the historical sites. We never had to take any public transportation. The apartment was well equipped and the manager was very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
No complaints.
Surrounding Area:
We loved being close to all the restaurants in the piazza. That area was the best in Rome. I highly recommend this location.
Tips or Restaurants:
We had Rick Steves books and the information from RentVillas on what to take. Use them and read before you go. We never had a bad meal in Rome.
Directions:
Yes we had a GPS with a Italy chip.
Check In Out:
Ask a lot of questions about how things work if you have not been to Italy before.

Randy, September

Overall:
Location is fabulous.
Enjoyed Most:
The location.
Surrounding Area:
Easy Access.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Close to everything!

Warren, July

Overall:
We had a fabulous time living in this area of Rome. We walked everywhere and never took any transportation.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was terrific and the apartment was comfortably furnished.
Enjoyed Least:
The dryer does not have a vent, and after 2 hours, the clothes were still very wet and quite hot. Air drying is the best bet. The washer did work well.
Surrounding Area:
We shopped at the daily farmer's market at Campo di' Fiori - 2 minute walk and the terrific deli at the end of our street. Evenings we strolled over the nearby Ponte Sisto to the Trastevere area which is lively and filled with many trattorias with outdoor seating.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ditirambo is a great restaurant, moderately priced, within a 5 minute walk. We brought some basics for the kitchen which were on your checklist sharp knife, plastic cutting sheet.
Directions:
We arranged an airport pickup and dropoff which was welcomed after our long flight.

Stephanie, May

Enjoyed Most:
The location was excellent. The apartment was clean and well stocked.
Enjoyed Least:
The furniture was a little worn.
Surrounding Area:
The market place and surrounding restaurants were very close. It made for easy dining.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in the heart of Rome.
Directions:
We took a cab to the property.

Jeanette , September

Enjoyed Most:
Location! Right in the middle of everything. 2000 years of history at your feet as you leave the apartment. The clock you'll hear ringing the hours goes back to 1625. The Pantheon, 7 minute walk, goes back 2000 years.
Enjoyed Least:
A bit noisy, but you expect that in the heart of Rome - and earplugs work!. The sofa bed was only moderately comfortable for two adults. Two of the three reading lights in the living room weren't working.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. It's Rome at its finest. Buying fresh fruit in the Campo dei Fiori better than anything you get at home. Fresh bread at the bakery 200 feet from your front door. Incredible restaurants, most reasonably priced, though not cheap. Shops. And, again, 2000 years of civilized Rome.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Who cares! You will never exhaust Rome!
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring book lights if you read in bed and earplugs if you're not used to city noise. Hosteria Costanza Piazza Paradiso 6365 is built into the foundations of the Theater of Pompey and serves excellent food. We went twice in one week. It's about a 5 minute walk from the apartment through the edge of the Campo. Don't you dare go to bed without a gelato from any of 5 places within a block or two. Do plan just to wander west and south towards the Tiber. Keep your eyes open and up and you'll see wonders every 200 feet or so!
Directions:
All the taxis know that Via dei Giubbonari is closed to cars, so they let you off about 120 feet away in the Piazza Cairoli.
Check In Out:
Electricity is expensive if you use the AC, be ready to pay for it. Owner and manager were both very, very helpful.

Maynard, July

Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was in an excellent location. It was within walking distance of the Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona, as well as nearly every sight we visited. The apartment itself was quite roomy and spacious enough.
Enjoyed Least:
The apartment could have used a little better lighting. It also would have been nice to have a safe.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding area was quite lively at night, which was great for the members of our party who are in their twenties. I also liked the fact that there was shopping and restaurants right out the front door. We were never bored!
Tips or Restaurants:
My husband and I enjoyed the restaurants at Piazza Navona, while the younger people liked the less expensive food at Campo dei Fiori.
Check In Out:
The person who gave us the key was very friendly and punctual. He also spoke perfect English.

Linda, July

Enjoyed Most:
We liked its proximity to the Campo dei Fiori. We liked the apartment itself. It was a great location and everything was clean and well cared for. It was nice for the children to have a bathtub.
Enjoyed Least:
We really didn't have any problems with the property.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the market at the Campo dei Fiori. My four year old used his Italian that we had been learning to purchase strawberries and peaches. The little old lady selling them was so charmed that she threw in a free banana. We also liked the restaurants and bakery there.
Nearby Events or Locales:
It was within walking distance of all of the old city of Rome and we did walk to all of it.
Directions:
The driver that you provided at the airport was wonderful.

Tommy, May

Overall:
Overall we were very satisfied.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, size, comfort.
Enjoyed Least:
Could have used a few more blankets, towels. In the kitchen, could use some more serving pieces and plastic containers to store food. Fridge was too tiny.
Surrounding Area:
Charming location, Easy walking distance to every major sight and area. Close proximity to Campo dei Fiori.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment was mostly very well equipped. The bakery Forno around the corner was excellent. I suppose a cell phone is essential, as you need it to contact the key holder on arrival. Otherwise you'd be forced to navigate the Italian public phone system in a jet lagged stupor
Directions:
We took a taxi, so we did not need directions
Check In Out:
The taxi driver meets you after you exit baggage, not at the gate as described. Again, a cell phone was essential..

Brent, April

Overall:
The space worked really well for the five of us.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was really good. The apartment had a guest book and we really took advantage of that. Really useful information. There were even some suggestions on tours around the Colosseum. There were reviews from previous clients about noise, but we didn't really notice it.

Raymond, March

Overall:
Liked it a lot. We've rented through you since 2001, and we have always been happy with our properties. I'm always giving out your web site to people. In any case, this apartment was as described, and we would rent it, again. For the price it is a good deal.
Enjoyed Most:
Location was superb. The agents were extremely helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
The furniture in the living room furniture was not very comfortable.

John, October

Enjoyed Most:
Location.
Enjoyed Least:
I think it could have been cleaner. The dishwasher had to be run twice to clean the dishes. Had to replace two light bulbs. Took two days to make ice cubes! Over all it was okay.
Surrounding Area:
All the markets and restaurants. The old parts of Rome and St Peter's
Tips or Restaurants:
Most of the previous people who stayed there prior to our visit covered most of the comments of things to bring. We did bring along two plastic ice cube trays and left them since we enjoy our adult beverages cooler that they are used to, and the one that was in the freezer only provided 8 ice cubes!
Directions:
My advice is to have the future renters call Marco, who arranged to have a driver pick us up at the airport or train station as well as provide a ride back to the airport or train station. They only charged 50 Euro per trip to and from the airport. That was for four adults and 5 rather large Bags
Check In Out:
I guess I didn't read were they charge you for electricity. Since it was in the 90's we had to let the "air conditioner run all night to even begin to keep it comfortable in the evenings.

Roger, September

Overall:
We would go back in a heartbeat!
Enjoyed Most:
It was a central location to all the main attractions in Rome. We walked everywhere. It was a good size for our family of six. The property manager was also wonderful and the people who ran the businesses surrounding the location, once they got to know you, were extremely friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
The appliances gave us trouble, specifically the dryer and dishwasher.
Surrounding Area:
Again, it was close to everything!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Vatican City was in walking distance. Although after the Vatican Museum, the 387 stairs of the Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, I don't suggest walking back!
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurants in the Campo dei Fiori were all pretty good. However, whatever you planned on bringing for your food budget, double it. The market in the morning helps tremendously and the grocery store near by does too, but the cost of eating out was a bit of a shocker. Other than that, seriously enjoy the surrounding area! Also, pay the additional money for the transfer from the airport. I couldn't have gotten there if I tried! I was pretty nervous when we got dropped off because our driver spoke very little English. But luckily the property manager showed up right as he dropped us off.
Check In Out:
They were very good.

Karen, July

Enjoyed Most:
Location, location, location! Great fun to open the windows and see the activity below. Well equipped kitchen.
Enjoyed Least:
Not cleaned very well. Poor lighting in apartment.
Surrounding Area:
"The Campo" was always a flurry of activity - daily market till 2:00 is not to be missed. From late afternoon till late evening young people congregated and music played. Great place to eat - Ditirambo on Piazza della Cancelleria 74 is nearby. Avoid most of the restaurants on the Campo - terrible food and high prices. One exception is the Forno's pastry. Outstanding!
Tips or Restaurants:
This apartment has a washer-dryer, although the dryer doesn't work all that well - the spin cycle on the washer has to be run twice to adequately squeeze the water out. Hint: the controls for the dishwasher are on top of the dishwasher door. No iron or ironing board. We took a taxi from the train station in Rome. The taxi driver let us off in the Campo, as it's a pedestrian area, but it's a long walk to the apt. If you come by taxi, have them let you off in the Piazza Cairoli near the farmacia marked by a large green cross. Then walk up Via Giubbonari. It's much closer than walking from the Camp dei Fiori.<

Fran, May

Overall:
I can't imagine a better location, which was very important to us, especially since we were a family with different tolerances for sightseeing. We could split up easily, and return to the apartment for a break without much trouble.
Enjoyed Most:
This property has the best location you could ever hope for when visiting Rome. It is within short walking distance to the Roman Forum, Pantheon, Colosseum. We had no problem walking to the Vatican. It was in an authentic neighborhood. It was a great home base for our family of five, and there was sufficient room to be comfortable. The apartment was also clean.
Enjoyed Least:
The apartment was a bit dark, the lighting could have been a bit better to compensate for the lack of windows. A few elevator noises during the night, but not a big deal. But I'm not really complaining, these were minor points.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the Campo dei Fiori, and we found the produce fresh and reasonably priced. We loved the narrow cobblestone streets and the nearby Jewish Ghetto neighborhood is said to be authentically Roman as people really live and work there. The nearby bakery and Blue Ice gelato were the best we found.
Tips or Restaurants:
I was glad I brought a tablecloth, kitchen sponge, and an all purpose serrated paring knife. Bring slippers as the floor is tile throughout. A clip on reading light may be of help.
Check In Out:
You cannot get a cab to the front door because the street is barely adequate for vehicles and that is only during early morning. So you have to walk from the corner, which is not easy on the cobblestone with luggage.

Linda, January

Enjoyed Most:
The location was perfect for a tourist in Rome.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing negative aboout it other than the Satellite did not work for the television.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding shops and restaurants were amazing.
Nearby Events or Locales:
It was centrally located in Rome.
Tips or Restaurants:
Hosteria del Pesce Via di Monserrato, 32 06 6865617 telephone number. Incredible dinner....You need to make a reservation and they speak English
Directions:
Contact the local agent when you arrive and thus you really need to bring or rent a cell phone.

Tracy, August

Overall:
We will never stay in a hotel again in Rome. This experience was great. Excellent check-in and check-out with the local agent who also facilitated the airport transfer. Very nice to have the owner in the building when the dryer didn't work. She quickly gave us access to another apartment for drying.
Enjoyed Most:
Location near Campo di Fiori was magical.
Enjoyed Least:
Elevator noises and some odor outside the bedroom windows.
Surrounding Area:
Using the piazza as grocery store, hang-out, gelateria and pizzeria was great fun. Easy access to Rome's electric mini-bus that gets you to all the sites of the historic city
Tips or Restaurants:
Go to Forno, the pizzeria in the corner of the Campo di Fiori. Ignore all other pizzerias.

Curt, July

Overall:
Once you get the system of opening and closing up the windows to cool the house, you can keep the temperature cool without always needing the air-conditioning. We loved the apartment and found it perfoect for our trip.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the central location, in the area around Campo Dei Fiori. We liked the spacious living room and decorative touches, also having air conditioning was key. Having a nice dining table with placemats was nice.
Enjoyed Least:
The sound of the elevator lift outside the back bedroom was a little annoying, if you wanted to keep the window open. The street and nearby square was a popular area for beggers, which is unfortunately, a problem all over Rome.
Surrounding Area:
The beautiful fruit and vegetable market, and the busy night life. Also the trendy clothing stores on our street were fun.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in the heart of old Rome.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment was ideal for walking about Rome but, bring solid comfortable shoes! I enjoyed going down to the little market near the Campo to buy household staples like water, meats, milk, cheese, etc. By the second day, they were quite friendly to me,and by the end of the week, I felt like a regular neighbor. The restaurant Teatro Di Pompeo near the appartment was good and very friendly. In Trastevere, we loved Taverna Trilussa.

Linda, July

Enjoyed Most:
Great location. Nice size apartment. Nothing felt cramped or too small. We had 9 people with us altogether, and we rented two apartments, but we could have all of us in one apartment to hang out and it was comfortable.
Enjoyed Least:
A little too noisy for me. The noise from the streets went on until at least 1-2 am, even with the windows closed. The bedrooms are in the back of the apartment, which does help isolate you from the noise. We were also there in June, so maybe people are out and about more.
Surrounding Area:
A great area to enjoy many places in Rome. You could walk just about anywhere. Also, there was a great market in the Campo which was fun to walk around, and buy things from.

Melissa, June

Enjoyed Most:
The location was amazing - very convenient to everything and surprisingly quiet at night despite the night life at Campo di Fiori. The property managers were very helpful and responsive.
Enjoyed Least:
The bathroom in the master bedroom was not up to par with the rest of the apartment.
Surrounding Area:
The market at Campo di Fiori was wonderful, and it was delightful to be around so many people all the time. Also, we were within walking distance of all the main sights.
Directions:
We asked Rentvillas to organize a taxi from the airport which saved us a lot of time and effort.

Reena, April

Overall:
It was comfortable and plenty roomy for 5 people. GREAT LOCATION!!
Enjoyed Most:
Fantastic location; could walk everywhere. Campo di Fiori was a 2-minute walk at the end of the street. Fresh food market every morning and great restaurants and gelato shops. Grocery store around the corner and restaurants are all nearby. My girls loved having all the shopping below us. A very fun place to stay, but also very quiet in the evening after all the shops close at 7:30pm.
Enjoyed Least:
Some of the light bulbs were burned out so it was dark and the living room could use another sitting chair. There were 5 of us so someone had to sit on a dining room chair if we were gathering to read or watch TV in the living room after a long day of sight seeing.
Surrounding Area:
Having everything we needed right below our villa was perfect. Fabulous shopping, restaurants and pizzarias all within a step or two of the front door.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We only left Rome to go to Naples and Pompeii and that was on a bus tour. We did everything in Rome that there was to do.
Tips or Restaurants:
Throw in a few Tide laundry tabs. There is a washer and dryer in the villa and you only get 1 towel each, so if you want clean towels it will save you from buying laundry soap, or bring an extra towel. The heat in Italy is not like the US, so bring a sweater. The villa was chilly, and the radiator in the one bedroon did not work. I bought an international cell phone from Cellular Abroad, and it came in handy. You need to call the manager of the villa when you arrive. I also ordered my Euros ahead from my local bank, so I had the deposit money.
Directions:
On our return we took the airport shuttle that was listed in the villas book of recommedations and it was very reliable.
Check In Out:
The property manager was on time and waiting for us with the keys. We called him when we landed.

Susan, January

Overall:
The property was perfectly located in the heart of Ancient Rome. Walking distance to all of the tourist sites and close to many good restaurants and shops. The apartment was very clean and well furnished, with adequate air conditioning to remain comfortable in the heat wave that hit Rome at that time. We had five people in Antonius and it was comfortable.
Surrounding Area:

Campo de Fiori was very lively at night.
Tips or Restaurants:

Many good restaurants in the Campo de Fiori and nearby streets. They are not cheap if you order three courses and drink some wine. It's easy to runup a tab of $40 to $50 per person.

June

Overall:
More than we could have asked for. We would go back in a minute.
Enjoyed Most:
Centrally located. We walked everywhere.
Enjoyed Least:
Water temperature in the shower would go from warm to freezing and took its sweet time going back to warm.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure you look around the apartment for the instructions on how to use the washer and dryer. Unless you know Italian they are a God-send and some lovely person translated the most import sections into English. There is no view, but the central location makes up for it. The open air market in the Campo di Fiore is not to be missed. Don't be afraid to walk around the immediate area, we found a market, a bank and the best gelato very nearby, but not prominently located. They are hidden in what we would term backstreets and alleyways. The same goes for antique jewelery stores. There are two on the way to the bridge leading to the Trastevere. Small hidden places that will surprise and delight you.

Victoria, May

Overall:
We had a great time, and would love to rent it again and again. I was most anxious about paying for the rental in full before seeing the apartment, but happily, all of my expectations were fulfilled.
Enjoyed Most:
The location on the via Giubinari was spectacular. The building was very well kept and neat. We had lots of privacy and felt like Italians living in Rome.
Enjoyed Least:
Figuring out the best way to get hot water in the shower.
Surrounding Area:
The via Giubinari speaks for itself. It is like living in the heart of the West Village in Manhattan, wonderful shops and resturants nearby, lots of activity, in the heart of Rome, close to all the wonderful monuments and piazzas.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Rome is a walking city.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure you have enough space for all of the people in your party. We had two adults and two children during our stay, and having two bathrooms was very important. A third bedroom would have been nice, but not as important as the extra bath.

Philip, March

Overall:
I just had to write you and tell you how much we enjoyed our apartment in Rome. The property was in a perfect location and exceeded our expectations. The property was centrally located to all of the major sites in Rome. It is in a fairly busy area, so if prospective renters want a lot of peace and quiet, this is not for them. If you are willing to immerse yourself in the culture of Rome and want to experience everything that the people of Rome have to offer then this property is perfect. Great little bakeries, coffee shops, and the beautiful vegetable market at the Campo di Fiori and the same area bustles until the wee hours of the morning. We loved it. In addition I appreciate the professionalism of your company and the property manager in Rome. I have rented several properties in Europe in the past and you always worry that you may not get the value you expected. I was extremely pleased with all aspects of our dealings with your company and I have given your name to several friends. Other general comments and helpful hints: This property is on a street that is a pedestrian area during much of the day and closed to automobiles. We used Taxi's when we needed to, which are allowed to drive on these closed streets.
Tips or Restaurants:
Rent a cell phone. This was great! Many times we would walk all over Rome and end up being miles from the property. I'd just call the taxi from the cell phone and they'd be there in a matter of minutes to take our tired bodies home. The taxi system worked very well and was fairly reasonably priced.

Tim, August

Overall:
Our apartment was well-located, just moments from the Campo Dei Fiori and it did accommodate the 5 of us.
Enjoyed Least:
The floors could have been better cleaned. The shower fluctuated between hot and cold and the towels were too few and of rather thin, flimsy quality.

Colette, June
