Customer Reviews
Overall:
The view from the property was as good as any in Tuscany. Settled amongst vineyards and olive trees it was a few minutes drive to the nearest village. The house was gorgeous and our family made good use of the swimming pool. The location in the middle of Tuscany was convenient to Florence, Siena and lots of other delightful towns.
Enjoyed Most:
The house itself was charming, but the location and view were breath-taking. The pool was a huge plus in the hot weather.
Enjoyed Least:
We were there during a very hot period and the heat was quite oppressive. The narrow roads made driving difficult.
Surrounding Area:
We walked, but mostly drove around the area. The scenery was sublime but care was needed on the narrow winding roads. The property is located mid-way between Florence and Siena and was great for day trips.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Tavarnelle Val De Pesa. It was not walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found a very good restaurant within walking distance just a little further down the road. Bring swimsuit, hat and sunscreen. You need a car with a GPS.
Directions:
We had a GPS, but found our way to the property the first time with the help of the manager, whom we met in Tavarnelle Val De Pesa.
Check In Out:
The check in check out processes were fine. The manager, Filippo, was charming, helpful and responsive.

Overall:
Really good.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and pool.
Enjoyed Least:
No air conditioning in downstairs bedroom which, due to excessive heat in Italy during our stay, was uncomfortable for sleep.
Surrounding Area:
Visiting many small towns.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nearest small town had both a wonderful pizza restaurant and a beautiful gourmet restaurant in a beautiful setting where we ate twice.
Directions:
Yes, we used a GPS to get to the owners B&B and then the owner led us there.
Check In Out:
Host was very nice and considerate.

Enjoyed Most:
Scenic and clean
Enjoyed Least:
There was loud music coming from down the street. There was no shared dryer. Editor's Note: A concert was being held in a nearby church. The dryer is no longer available. April, 2015
Surrounding Area:
Stunningly beautiful Tuscan landscape.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Not sure of the name but not within walking distance. Very nice little town!

Overall:
Nice property near to many small town restaurants. The owners were excellent. Very accommodating (even bought us a toaster).
Enjoyed Most:
Size of villa was nice, 3 full baths were great.
Enjoyed Least:
Advertised king size beds in 2 of the bedrooms, but really these were "queen" size beds according to American standards. They were big enough for us.
Surrounding Area:
Restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nothing within walking distance, roads very winding and narrow.
Tips or Restaurants:
Borgo Antico
Directions:
Follow the owner the first time, then you're set.

Overall:
Really great.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool and view and space--the location. We love Tuscany.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed in the main bedroom was very firm.
Surrounding Area:
Easy to reach food shops and a great location from which to explore Tuscany.
Tips or Restaurants:
Both restaurants in the local town have great views.
Bring pool towels and good books.
Directions:
All good.

Overall:
Fantastic. Our hosts were very accommodating
Enjoyed Most:
Gorgeous setting and very conveniently located to the major sites.
Enjoyed Least:
Swimming pool could have been heated.
Surrounding Area:
Gorgeous scenery.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town was Barberino val d' Elsa. Not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Plastic wrap, tin foil, toilet paper. Ristorante Borgo Antico in Tavarnelle Val di Pensa (in the Florence area) was great.
Directions:
You have to have a GPS system as the location is in the middle of nowhere.

Overall:
We had a great stay at Sole 1. The owner Filippo was more than helpful. Pool was still too cold to use as the weather had been terrible prior to our arrival.
Enjoyed Most:
Nicely set up for 4 or 5. Lots of parking. No shortage of hot water.
Enjoyed Least:
The TV was difficult to operate. There was no WiFi on the property although the owner plans on installing it soon. A toaster would also help.
Surrounding Area:
Great villages and local markets. The people were more than happy to help.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Petrognano was the closest town within walking distance but there was nothing there. Barberino Val d'Elsa or Tavarnelle were the nearest main towns a few miles away by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
A car is a must. Bring a detailed map as Italy has a practice of trying to confuse tourists with road signs. The owner also operates a B&B in Tavarnelle called Antica Pieve and has one of the best restaunts in the area. Another ristorante we liked was La Fattoria in Tavarnelle. Don't miss the wine at the local vineyard--all under 12 euros and so good.
Directions:
We met the owner at his B&B in Tavernelle and he took us to the Villa. No GPS and we were amazed at how lost we could get--but not to worry, nothing is very far.
