Overall:
Villa Vinsanto was lovely! Behind large wooden doors on a pedestrian street in an adorable Santorini village is a comfortable vacation oasis! From the moment we arrived and were greated by Kosta to the moment we left, it felt like our home away from home. The rooms were comfortable and well-appointed. The cave rooms were always a lovely cool temperature and the two other bedrooms had air-conditioning - although given the cool evenings and amazing sea breezes, it was really not necessary. The pool was the perfect size to relax in and enjoy the peace and quiet. The amenities of the village added to the convenience of the villa. A few restaurants, shops and wineries to visit.
Enjoyed Most:
The privacy, the pool and the off-the-beaten track location. Also loved the view of the village from the roof. We were there for a full moon - so the sky was beautiful!
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchens were minimalist - which was fine for what we needed, but if you are looking to prepare most of your meals there, might be limiting.
Surrounding Area:
Loved the fishing village (Vlychada), the vineyards and the proximity to most destinations (Kamali, Perissa, Fira). The town of Megalachori itself was also adorable and fun to walk around at different times of day to see how the sun reflected off the buildings.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Megalachori is right down the hill and there is a bakery right up the hill. The vast majority of what you will need is within walking distance of the villa. With your walking shoes on and a bottle of water, you can also walk to the beach at Vlychada or Eros (3-5 kilometres).
Tips or Restaurants:
GREAT SEAFOOD RESTAURANT To Psaraki on the bluff of the fishing village was fantastic! Wonderful place to see the boats come in and to watch the sunset. The seafood there was amazingly fresh and everything we tried (which was A LOT) was delicious.
I would definitely rent a car if you are staying in Megalachori - it is a great location, driving is easy, but not sure I would want to rely on buses.
Directions:
We called the property manager and he met us at the Fira bus station. From there we followed him in the car. It was not a problem at all
Check In Out:
Kosta made everything easy. No improvement necessary.

Overall:
We had a wonderful time, and the owner and staff of the villa were very helpful and attentive. They made us feel at home and welcome.
Enjoyed Most:
The high-level of interior design. This was by far the most "expensive looking" rental we have ever stayed in, and we constantly felt like we were in a 5-star resort. The daily maid service was much welcomed, and we were very thankful that a car rental was taken care of prior to our arrival and waiting for us.
Enjoyed Least:
We couldn't figure out if you could plug the drain in the bathroom in the upstairs unit.
Surrounding Area:
The village we stayed in was absolutely beautiful. The owners of the villa also own a restaurant at the end of the road, and we were often down there eating and visiting with the other employees. Because they all worked together, if something was wrong with the house, we could just tell anybody down there and they were always eager and willing to help.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We stayed in a small town, Megalochori. Picture perfect!
Tips or Restaurants:
This villa came fully stocked, so in the end we didn't need to bring the majority of the kitchen supplies that Rentvillas.com recommended in their orientation packet.
Directions:
The owner arranged for pick-up to and from the port, so they took all the worry out of arrival.
