This short term apartment in Florence is located in a palazzo on the elegant Piazza Antinori in the Duomo district. The palazzo dates back to the 14th Century, a time when the city was just beginning to expand beyond the Roman central nucleus. At that time, Via Tornabuoni and Piazza Antinori were side streets leading towards the Florence city limits. It was only in the mid-15th Century that the location around this apartment rental in Florence became the address for wealthy Florentines who bought and refurbished palaces to turn them into stately homes.
Nearby Attractions: The area around the Basilica di Santa Maria dei Fiore, commonly referred to as The “Duomo,” is considered the historic center of the city. From here it is possible to walk north to the San Lorenzo Church, the San Lorenzo outdoor market (where you can find all manner of clothing, shoes and bags,) as well as the not-to-be-missed Mercado Centrale, with its mouthwatering displays of food items. West and north is the train station and the Santa Maris Novella Church. While in this area, it is worthwhile to visit the Officina di Santa Maria Novella… the potpourri perfume will guide you. To the south are the Piazza della Signoria, the political center of Renaissance, the Uffizi Gallery, the Orsanmichele Church, the Casa di Dante, the Badia Fiorentina, and the Ponte Vecchio. Along the way are shops galore! One very interesting place is visit that is southwest of the Duomo, is the Palazzo Davanzati, a beautiful home with period furnishings, originally built in the 14th century. After years of renovation, it is finally open!

Customer Reviews
Overall:
We would recommend this place to anyone!
Enjoyed Most:
Location!.... and it lived up to it's description. It was elegant and well furnished. The itchen was adequately stocked with dishes and cooking items. (We had many meals in). We loved looking out the windows at the Duomo. And being able to walk all over the area.
Enjoyed Least:
The street noise. We did learn to shut windows at certain times.
Surrounding Area:
Being able to walk to stores, markets and places to eat. It was a very safe part of town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Central Market, walking across the bridges, walking to museums and churches we wanted to see. We were close to the bus station and made several day trips on buses....very convenient and easy.
Tips or Restaurants:
Trattoria Belle Dona, La Spada's roast chicken and potaoes. Good food at most places.

Overall:
This is a superb property that is everything the property description, guest comments and photos promise.
Enjoyed Most:
Location in the heart of the city centro and an unparalleled view of the Duomo.
Enjoyed Least:
The apartment is loud with the street below bustling with city buses, scooters and the occasional police car. This is characteristic of almost every Florentine street, but if you want peace and quiet, stay south of the Arno in a neighborhood like Santa Spiritu.
Surrounding Area:
It's just far enough west of the central tourist streets for a few local merchants to continue to provide groceries and other necessities in genuine Italian-style shops located behind the property. The property managers provide a good list of the local shops, their location and what they sell.

Tips or Restaurants:
Trattoria Pandemomio, south of the Arno, is worth finding. It provides genuine Tuscan foods all prepared by the owner named Mamma. It's like having dinner with an Italian family.

Overall:
Overall, I can't think of a better location. But something on the Arno might be better - will try that in the future!
Enjoyed Most:
Location, location, location! Everything we wanted was within easy walking distance.
Enjoyed Least:
Small kitchen. No instructions, in English, about how to operate appliances.
Surrounding Area:
I love to walk, and there were many interesting things to see in every direction.
Nearby Events or Locales:
I was interested in visiting the "Last Suppers" in Florence churches. All were within easy walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
All the small resturants in the area were good, Il Latini was tops!
