Location Description

The villa is located 1 mile from Kenwood, a charming hamlet nestled between the Mayacamas and Sonoma mountain ranges, in the heart of wine country. Known as the Valley of the Moon, the area boasts many excellent wineries—Landmark and Chateau St. Jean are in the immediate vicinity (0.2 miles and 0.4 miles away, respectively), and Ledson and St. Francis are also nearby. Highway 12, which winds its way through the mountains, is dotted with eateries such as Café Citti, Kenwood Restaurant, Doce Luna and the Vineyard Inn. The crowning glory of the area is Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, where the headwaters of the Sonoma Creek begin as a natural waterfall. This is a wonderful place to glimpse spring windflowers and to hike and horseback ride along the park’s many trails. To the south lie the wineries and restaurants of Glen Ellen and Sonoma, and to the north, Santa Rosa offers upscale shopping, dining and a wildlife preserve. A car is necessary.

Exterior Description

Nestled on more than two acres, the farmhouse is bordered by vineyards and olive trees. The grounds are also planted with flowers, bushes and walnut, fig, pear and plum trees. A stone pathway allows guests to stroll beside the vineyards. The pool area features grass and a stone deck with a large swimming pool, Jacuzzi, umbrellas and sunbeds, and there is a barbecue nearby. A separate stone terrace is furnished with a sofa and armchairs, and the house itself has a large wraparound porch with bench seating and views of the vineyards.

Interior Description

(306 m2/ 3,300 ft2)

Ground Floor: The airy, open-plan living room features a sofa with a flat-screen TV with satellite, DVD player, another sitting area with a sofa and wood-burning stone fireplace, and a dining area with a table for 6. Just off the dining area is the kitchen, which features high-end appliances such as a Thermador 6-burner stove and oven, and there is also a microwave, dishwasher, toaster, American coffee maker, small TV, large island, marble countertops, stools and a door to the outside. A guest bathroom features a sink and toilet, and there is a laundry area with a washing machine and clothes dryer.

First Floor: There are three bedrooms. The first bedroom, the master, has a queen-size bed (63 in.), wood-burning fireplace, private balcony and ensuite bathroom with a Jacuzzi bathtub, shower, sink, toilet and hairdryer. The second and third bedrooms each have a queen-size bed (63 in.), balcony and ensuite bathroom with a bathtub, shower (tub and shower are combined in the second room’s bathroom), sink, toilet and hairdryer. Basement Level: The 900-square-foot wine cellar features a game room (pool table, pinball machine, air hockey table) and a separate fitness/yoga studio.
