The neo-gothic villa has been magnificently renovated by a well-known owner/designer, and is a wonderful place to enjoy the natural landscapes of Southern Tuscany. The region’s excellent wines, cuisine and charming towns are all within driving distance.

Location Description

The villa is located in Southern Tuscany, at the beginning of the Val d’Orcia. The villa is 2 kilometers from a shopping center and market. Just 7 km away (15-minute drive) is the ancient Etruscan town of Chiusi, where there are restaurants, shops, markets and museums, including the National Archeological Museum (Etruscan artifacts) and the Museo della Cattedrale (cistern and system of aqueducts form an underground labyrinth). The charming towns of Montepulciano (18 km), San Casciano (25 km) and Pienza (28 km) are all within easy driving distance, and Siena, Florence, Perugia and Rome make great day trips.

A tree-lined road leads into the property, which is surrounded by a private park of 22 hectares. The extensive Tuscan gardens feature walkways, statues, fountains, shrubs and trees including cedar, elm, Mediterranean pine, cypress, lemon and pomegranate, all overlooking extensive olive orchards which produce excellent olive oil. In front of the main villa there is a gazebo with a table and chairs for alfresco dining, as well as additional tables and chairs for lounging. There is a private swimming pool (5 x 11 m, open May through September) surrounded by sunbeds and sunshades, plus a fully equipped bar with a barbecue and a dining table and chairs. A bus stop is located near the property but a car is necessary for day trips. Onsite parking is available.

Interior Description

Ground Floor: The villa opens onto a lovely formal entrance hall. There is a sitting room with a sofa, table and chairs, library and large fireplace. There is another living room equipped with a large sofa, 2 smaller corner sofas, armchair, flat-screen TV, DVD player and CD player. There is also a small reading room with an armchair. The formal dining room has a table for 14 people and a piano. The sleek kitchen features a stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven and American coffee maker. There also a guest bathroom with a toilet.

First Floor: A marble staircase leads to the first floor, where there are 4 double bedrooms. The bedrooms each have a king-size bed (180 cm) and an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub, shower, sink and toilet. The fourth bedroom, which is the honeymoon suite, also has a private terrace overlooking the gardens, with tables for alfresco dining.

Second Floor: There are 2 bedrooms, each with a standard double bed (140 cm, comfortable for one, cozy for two). One bedroom has a tub and sink in the same room as the bed; there is a separate toilet room. The other bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub, sink and toilet. The rooms share a large living area.

Please Note:

• This property can be rented with a Guest House under the name Villa Placido with Guesthouse to accommodate more people.
• A complimentary Welcome Aperetif is provided upon arrival.
• The estate manager lives in a separate house on the grounds.
• Second floor bedrooms have standard double beds (140 cm) which are comfortable for one, and cozy for two. One of the bedrooms has the tub and sink in the same room as the bed; the toilet room is separate.
• Window screens are provided only on the bedroom windows.
• The villa is air conditioned throughout, except for the kitchen.
• Two in-house Laundry Services (Washing, drying, and folding for two loads of laundry, sorted by color) are included per week. The washing machine and dryer are not for client use.
• Housekeeping is provided for 5 hours daily in the morning. Bathroom and pool towels are changed every other day. Bed linens are changed mid-week. Additional Housekeeping can be arranged for an additional fee.
