Location Description

Located south of Saint-Remy-de-Provence, between Arles and Salon de Provence is this large countryside villa within walking distance of a small hamlet where there is a baker, newspaper delivery and tennis courts. This villa is in the heart of historical Provence, close to Fontvieille, Arles and Maussane-les-Alpilles. Just 5 km away is the town of Raphèle les Arles which has a wider range of facilities, including a supermarket, or venture further to Saint Martin de Crau which has many shops, restaurants and more markets. Worth visiting, Arles has a large two-tiered Amphitheater. Built in the first century by the Romans, the Amphitheater is capable of seating almost 25,000 spectators, and it originally provided entertainment in the form of chariot races and gladiatorial combat. Today it is used for bullfighting (during feria pascale), concerts and plays. On Saturdays there is a large market, one of the largest in Provence, where you can purchase textiles, pottery, art and local goods. This is also an ideal location for exploring the Alpilles Mountains or the Camargue, with its diverse wildlife, including pink flamingos, and horseback riding excursions.

Exterior Description

The villa is very private, surrounded by fields, gardens and orchards. It is accessed via a long tree lined driveway. To the front of the house there is a large garden and a spacious terrace with seating and dining areas. Just off the kitchen, is a pergola covered dining area. To the other side of the house there is a swimming pool (17m x 7m) with a large, fully equipped summer kitchen with a barbecue, pizza oven, kitchenette with DW, fridge, and oven. There is also a Petanque boules field. A covered dining and seating area has a table for 15-20 people. The summer kitchen also has access to a small room which can be used to accommodate staff with 2 single beds and a bathroom with shower and toilets. To the rear of the property is ample parking. Please note: At the west side of the property is the caretaker's house (with no view on the villa). The villa is secure with indoor and outdoor alarms.

Interior Description

(1200 m2)

Ground Floor: This villa has a stunning entrance hall from which there is access to all the ground floor rooms. These rooms include a French Billiard room, guest cloakroom, and a large main living room with vaulted ceilings (150 m2), equipped with a fireplace, 1/4 grand piano, bridge tables, books, sofas and access to the outdoors. There is a dining room with an open fireplace, a TV room with satellite and access to the outdoors, a second living room with an open fireplace and a study with a computer. A spacious kitchen with a breakfast table is equipped with a large French range cooker, American fridge/freezer with ice/water dispenser, microwave, Nespresso maker, Magimix blenders, small fireplace and dishwasher. It opens to a terrace with a plancha grill. Cool room for food / drink storage. A separate laundry room is located below the stairs.

All of the bedrooms are found on the upper levels of the villa.

First Level - South Wing: There is a master bedroom with a king size bed (180 cm; can be separated) and an ensuite bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath tub, double basin, separate shower room and separate WC/bidet. This room has a study with a TV. Bedroom 2 has a set of twin beds, a TV, and a separate bathroom equipped with a tub, WC, and basin. Bedroom 3 has a queen size bed (160 cm) and an en-suite bathroom with tub, basin, WC, and TV. Bedroom 4 has a set of twin beds and a separate bathroom with tub, 2 basins, Separate WC.

First Level - West Wing: Bedroom 5 with a queen size bed and downstairs en-suite bathroom with tub, basin and WC.

Second Level - East Wing: There is a bedrooms suitable for children and nannies. Bedroom 6 is located under the roof and is a large dormitory and playroom for children with 4 single beds, a salon with TV, A/C unit, a bathroom with shower, and a separate WC. Bedroom 7 has a queen size bed (160 cm), a TV, fan, and a separate bathroom with tub, 2 basins. Bedroom 8 has a set of twin beds.

First Level - North Wing: There are three additional, simply furnished bedrooms, suitable for children and staff. The first is a small double bedroom, with a TV, and a shower and basin. The second bedroom is a children’s dormitory with 3 single beds. There is a separate bathroom with tub, WC and basin. The last bedroom, a staff’s quarter, is small and has a set of twin beds with a shower and sink. The toilet is separate.

• There is an English-speaking "Meet & Greet" upon arrival.
• The caretakers live on the premises with a dog. Privacy is maintained at all times.
• There is a two week minimum rental period.
• Housekeeping is provided 8 hours a day, 6 days per week. Additional Housekeeping can be arranged for an additional fee.
