Just a few kilometers away, the Renaissance-era stone walls of the picturesque city of Lucca is home to the 14th century Duomo di San Martino, a Roman amphitheater, and a wealth of late gothic architecture. Convenient day trips range from beaches and the coastal Natural Park of San Rossore Migliarino Massaccuiccoli, to the cultural sights of Pisa and Florence.

This spacious, hillside villa has gorgeous views of the surrounding area, including the walled city of Lucca. The private swimming pool (13 m x 5 m) has a stone patio with umbrellas and half a dozen reclining patio chairs, and is surrounded by hundreds of mature olive trees. To take advantage of this stunning setting, there are multiple options for al fresco dining, with tables and chairs underneath a covered portico and a shady grape arbor.

Ground Floor: This floor has a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher. There is a dining room with a table and chairs, and French doors that open into the garden. The living room, which opens onto a large grape arbor, has a couch, chairs, coffee table, satellite TV, and a working fireplace. There is a sitting area with a door that opens onto a covered portico for outdoor dining. There is also a guest bathroom with a toilet and sink.
First Floor: This floor has a large master bedroom with a queen-size bed (160-170 cm), a private terrace, and ensuite bathroom with a bathtub, separate shower, sink, and toilet. There is also a study and a bedroom with a single bed (85-90 cm) and a pull-out bed (90 cm) and an ensuite bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink.
Second Floor: This floor has four bedrooms. The first bedroom has a queen-size bed (160-170 cm) with an ensuite bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet. The second bedroom has twin-beds (90 cm), a private terrace, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet. The third bedroom has twin-beds (85-90 cm). The fourth bedroom has a single bed (85-90 cm) and an additional pull-out single bed. The third and fourth bedrooms share a bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet.

Overall:
I was hosting approximately 16 friends (coming and going) during a two week period - we all had a brilliant time. The property is far enough from town to ensure quiet and peaceful downtime, but close enough to pop into Lucca for dinners and sightseeing. The direct trains to Florence were great. And, the caretaker, Maria, was just exceptional - helpful with restaurant reservations, recommendations and day to day assistance when required.
Enjoyed Most:
The home itself is very well maintained and was simply enjoyable for hanging out....pool and ground are immaculate. Kitchen had more than sufficient dinnerware, utensils (this was a group who enjoyed cooking lavish dinners)pans, etc. And the setting with the olive groves were remarkable.
Enjoyed Least:
There were no negative features. If you are a WiFi junkie, the WiFi throughout the house is a bit sketchy, although if you surfed near the router, there was no problem.
Surrounding Area:
As mentioned above, its a great location for those who wish peace and quiet. Cars are required as local transport would be sketchy, especially for the last kilometer (road is then very narrow)
Nearby Events or Locales:
The house is a good two to three kilometers from the nearest village with shops.....this was not a problem for our group.
Directions:
GPS directions were excellent and brought you directly to the front gate.
Check In Out:
Again, Maria did an exceptional job of explaining the property and then assisted whenever required during the two weeks. The cleaning service (alternate days) was appreciated.
