This stylish apartment in Florence’s historic center is ideal for a couple. The Academia Museum, which houses Michelangelo’s statue of David, is just around the corner, and shops, restaurants, and cafes are plentiful. Walk to San Lorenzo Market and rub elbows with local Florentines while you shop for ingredients to make dinner in the apartment’s fully-equipped kitchen. Take an evening stroll to the Duomo – only a 10 minute walk away. Then come back and relax in this comfortable apartment and prepare for another day of sightseeing.

Location Description

This apartment is located in the center of Florence, within walking distance of all the city’s sights. Right outside the building’s doorstep, there are restaurants and cafes, and a main shopping street is only 300 meters away. Walk to the beautiful Duomo, lively San Lorenzo Market, or the famous Ponte Vecchio. As the apartment is located in Florence’s historical center, there is limited traffic access for residents only on the narrow one-way street outside the building. Parking is available half a block from the apartment for a fee, however, it is not advisable to have a car!

Nearby Attractions: The area around the Basilica di Santa Maria dei Fiore, commonly referred to as The “Duomo,” is considered the historic center of the city. From here it is possible to walk north to the San Lorenzo Church, the San Lorenzo outdoor market (where you can find all manner of clothing, shoes and bags,) as well as the not-to-be-missed Mercado Centrale, with its mouthwatering displays of food items. West and north is the train station and the Santa Maris Novella Church. While in this area, it is worthwhile to visit the Officina di Santa Maria Novella… the potpourri perfume will guide you. To the south are the Piazza della Signoria, the political center of Renaissance, the Uffizi Gallery, the Orsanmichele Church, the Casa di Dante, the Badia Fiorentina, and the Ponte Vecchio. Along the way are shops galore! One very interesting place is visit that is southwest of the Duomo, is the Palazzo Davanzati, a beautiful home with period furnishings, originally built in the 14th century. After years of renovation, it is finally open!

Exterior Description

This apartment is in the historic, well-maintained Medici Palazzo building, which has several other apartments. The unit’s windows face the narrow, one-way street below.

Interior Description

First Floor (elevator): An elevator leads to the first floor, which has two other apartments. This apartment is divided into two levels.

Main Level: There is a living area with a sofa, chair, coffee table, flat-screen TV, iPod/iPhone dock, DVD player, PlayStation 3 with games and movies, and large windows that open onto the charming, narrow street below. The open floor plan also includes a dining table and chairs and a kitchen that can be separated from the living area by a retractable door. The kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, toaster and juicer. There is also a bathroom with brightly painted tile and a bathtub, shower nozzle, sink, toilet and hairdryer.

Loft Level: Up a short spiral staircase, the loft level overlooks the rest of the apartment across a short glass wall, and has shades that can separate it from the rest of the apartment for privacy. The bedroom area has a queen-size bed (160 cm), flat-screen TV and low wooden ceiling (about 2 meters/6.5 ft high). There is also a guest bathroom on this level, with a sink, toilet, washing machine and dryer.
