About The Experience
Barbecues on the patio and parties by the pool don't sound too "foreign" but when you put them together with scenery of the French countryside, have fresh produce and meat from a French outdoor market, and dessert from a French bakery, you've got yourself an authentic French experience. Located in Provence, this self-catering accommodation is just outside a village and is a short drive away from Avignon and St Remy! Bring your family for a unique holiday in Provence!
Location Description

The property is located four kilometers from the small village of Noves, which has a few shops and grocers. Avignon is the main highlight in the area as it's only 10 kilometers away. A city bordered by medieval walls, Avignon is full of winding streets and ancients buildings home to shops, restaurants, and markets. Energetic and lively, partly because of its university, Avignon has countless activities and places to see. The noteworthy sites include the Palais des Papes, the Musee Carnavalet, and the Notre Dame des Doms cathedral. Great day trip destinations in the region include St-Remy-de-Provence and Cavaillon.

Nearby Attractions: Noves (shops, grocers), Avignon (shops, restaurants, markets, nightlife, museums, Palais des Papes, ancient buildings, medieval walls, churches, cathedrals), St Remy de Provence, Cavaillon, Arles, Luberon National Park.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
Our large family, including grandparents, adult children, and grandchildren, all enjoyed Villa Parure immensely! The location outside of the small village of Noves was ideal for exploring the area and the Gauthiers were gracious and warm managers. From our check in experience, with fruit and rose' wine waiting for us, to our check out with lots of hugs and tears (from our 9 year old granddaughter who did NOT want to leave) it was a wonderful week.
Enjoyed Most:
The outdoor spaces were amazing - olive trees, lavender plants all set back from a large grass lawn. The pool area was clean and warm, with lots of deck furniture, and gated. The patio was large, all tile, and there is a long teak table and chairs to seat 8 or 10, padded lounge chairs, barbecue, tiled surface areas for bar and serving, and all covered by a gorgeous arbor of interwoven vines to provide the perfect shade. On the grass there was another small dining table perfect for morning coffee in full sun! Kids like the Foos ball and ping pong! All the outdoor areas were absolutely gorgeous!
Enjoyed Least:
The main floor bedroom has a beautiful tiled bathroom with huge shower and sink area BUT no toilet - so whoever has that bathroom needs to use the entry bath toilet. Not a problem for us at all but just weird!! Also, there was a pool house with shower that sometimes had a foul odor - again, not a problem for us. And the Internet access is slow and sometimes unreliable, but again, you are on vacation so it's not a big problem.
Surrounding Area:
We started each day with a swim or a long walk on the paths surrounding the house and then after a leisurely breakfast on the deck ventured out to see the hill towns, the ancient ruins, the churches, the markets. We have been to Provence three times and this was the best location for seeing the sights yet still feeling you were in the countryside. We tried to get home each day by 4 p.m. to enjoy the pool and outdoor area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Noves was about 2 kilometers away - seemed close by car but was about a 45-minute walk on the road. Noves is small and we would just jump in the car to hit the bakery or market as needed. Actually did all our shopping for food in that village and it was very adequate.
Tips or Restaurants:
This house is extremely well-appointed with everything you would need-lots of kitchen utensils, pans, serving dishes, plates, and glasses. Bathrooms are fabulous. Large pantry for storing food, water, wine, etc. Living and dining room are large and lots of comfortable furniture. The garage had an extra refrigerator and a washer and dryer. We did laundry every day but never used the dryer since there were clothes lines and drying racks set up outside. This was the most well-stocked house I have ever stayed in - nothing was missing! We usually went to other small villages for dinner and all restaurants were fantastic - you cannot go wrong in St. Remy or other areas! We cooked in once and that was equally fantastic in that gorgeous park-like setting amidst olive trees and blooming lavender!
Directions:
Directions were actually very good. We did have GPS.
Check In Out:
Madame Gauthier was very gracious. She showed us all the facilities, how to work things (washer, dishwasher, etc- yes, dishwasher!), and was very clear about locking the gates, etc. It helped to know a little French!

Overall:
Overall, we had a great experience at Villa Parure. We found a grocery and cooked most every night. The outdoor covered eating area was fabulous. We would stay here again.
Enjoyed Most:
We liked to outdoor eating area and the yard the most. The pool was beautiful but very cold. However, we did enjoy sitting out by the pool. The kids loved playing on the grounds, and we loved the lavender and olive trees.
Enjoyed Least:
Really the only complaint we had with the property were the beds. The mattresses were uncomfortable, and I ended up sleeping on the sofa most nights. The kids really didn't notice and the downstairs master bed wasn't bad, but we slept in the upstairs double bed.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed day trips to Avignon, Les Baux, Chateaurenard great market, Arles, and day trip to Cannes. Les Baux is truly amazing and unlike anything I've ever seen before, and I would recommend a day trip to Cannes or somewhere along the coast although in early June the water was cold. My favorite outing was to St. Remy because the town is set up for tourists. I found them to be very helpful and friendly with many cute shops. We had a great cheeseburger in St. Remy.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found a very large grocery store in Avignon called Aucun which was in a mall in Avignon sud. I would recommend visiting this grocery to stock the fridge and pantry upon arrival.
Check In Out:
I really liked the owner, but speak some French. She was very organized and helpful. She met us promptly upon our arrival and arrived on time to check us out upon departure.

Overall:
We had a fantastic time. The villa was everything as describe and then some. We had issues with the internet connecting when we arrived and the owner was there within the day to have it fixed. We would not hesitate to return or recommend it to others.
Enjoyed Most:
The villa and grounds were very clean and well kept. The villa was a great size. We are a family of five and we had plenty of room.
Enjoyed Least:
The pool was not heated, but it didn't stop the children from having a great time. We were excited about having 4 bikes available, however when we arrived we were informed that they no longer had bikes. It certainly didn't ruin our vacation, but it would have been nice.
Surrounding Area:
Where to start? We travelled daily. There is so much to see and discover. There is so much history around. We really enjoyed visiting Avignon, St Remy, Baux de Provence. The list goes on.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Noves is the nearest town which is about 1.5 - 2km away. We didn't walk to it because there weren't any sidewalks. We never did end up going to Noves. We did all our grocery shopping in Avignon.
Tips or Restaurants:
It's good to know that many places are closed on Mondays. We also found it amusing that so many places close between noon and 2pm. This can get to be a bit of an issue if you forget and don't get out of the villa until 10 or 11 am.
Check In Out:
The only issue we had was our flight was delayed so we were close on the check in time, but we made it with 10 minutes to spare. The times provided though were good.
