Location Description

This classic Italian rental rests on a hillside above the historic village of Settignano, considered an ideal place for rest and meditation. It is a place filled with vines and olive groves, with roots all the way back to Roman times. If you take the time to explore its streets, you’ll find the Church of Saint Maria, the New Public Square (which provides a panoramic view of Florence as well as a lovely statue), the Oratory of Vannella, the Villa Michelangelo (where the artist spent his youth), and the Villa Capponcina. There are also paths for scenic walks around the countryside. From the main square in Settignano, you can take bus #10 into Florence.

Exterior Description

(Entire estate - 10,000 m2) Completed early in the seventeenth century in the traditional Tuscan style, this Italian estate villa rental is a marvel of architecture and gardening. And, in fact, the most stunning aspect of this estate is its beautiful gardens, famous throughout Italy. Undergoing additions and revisions throughout the centuries, today Tenuta di Settignano is a mix of ancient and modern beauty, rife with stylized topiary, stone statues, garden pools, and lichen-spotted walls. There is a small private swimming pool (9 x 6 m - open from the first of June until the end of September). The family in ownership after World War II began the process of restoration and preservation which makes this historic estate a pleasure to inhabit today. Because of their significance, the gardens surrounding the villa (and four apartments) are open to the public by appointment, so your party may not have entirely private access—a small price to pay for inhabiting a piece of Italian history.

Interior Description

(3,000 m2)
Ground Floor: Enter the villa through the spacious main hall, an impressive room with vaulted ceilings, chandeliers, and a huge open fireplace. This area would be excellent for large group gatherings, or even dancing. The villa is built around a central open courtyard, so circling right around the center from the main hall brings you through several large rooms, each big enough to accommodate a group of people. First is a pine living room, then a blue living room, a pink dining room (seats 20), and a white dining room (seats 10). Also on the ground floor is a billiard room. Additionally, there are four bedrooms. One contains two 90 cm twin-beds (these can be combined into one king-sized bed upon request) and is attached to a bathroom with sink, toilet, and tub with showerhead. The other is furnished with a king-size (180 cm) bed that can be separated into two beds on request, and is adjacent to a bathroom with sink, toilet, and tub with showerhead. There are two additional double bedrooms, and a bathroom with bathtub. There is also a guest bathroom with sink and toilet only.

First Floor (there is an elevator): You’ll find five more bedrooms on the first floor. The first two share a bathroom with sink, toilet, and tub with handheld showerhead. The “green” room has a queen-sized bed (170 cm) that cannot be separated while the “blue” room has a king (180 cm) that can be divided into two 90 cm beds upon request. The third room has a queen-sized (170 cm) bed that can be separated on request, and its own bathroom with sink, toilet, and tub with handheld showerhead. The fourth and fifth rooms both have king-sized beds (180 and 200 cm) that can be separated on request and share a bathroom with sink, toilet, and tub with handheld showerhead. In addition, there is also a large living room, furnished with all the couches and armchairs you’ll ever need, which opens onto a covered terrace with spectacular views of the garden and the city of Florence. Finally, the first floor is completed with a dining room (seats 14-17) and a large kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, oven, stove, washing machine, dishwasher, dryer, and iron.
