This Andalucia vacation villa rental on the coast of Spain is located on a quiet street within the luxury gated resort of Sotogrande, in the best and most exclusive part of the development. The villa rental is within a cork tree forest, directly overlooking and on the Sotogrande Golf Course, rated one of the top 100 courses in the world. The street is paved, within a neighborhood of large villas with many trees. The entry and driveway to the property is also paved. Due to the location and the abundance of trees, there is a great sense of privacy and quiet in and outside of the villa.
Nearby Attractions: Within the resort of Sotogrande there are the following: 3 km-long sandy beach, tennis, golf course, sailing, polo, golf driving range, etc.

This gracious, luxury Spanish-style villa has been featured many times in books and magazines, including Town & Country, Marie Claire Decoration, The Gardens of Russell Page, and the Gardens of Spain. Part of the mature garden was designed by Russell Page, with a pencross grass lawn. The large pool (16 x 5 meters) has a unique pool house made of shell and wood. The villa rental has two floors, three patios and ample outdoor terraces. The museum-quality décor is a mixture of contemporary, oriental, and classic Spanish and American styles. Nevertheless, it has comfortable and home-like touches because this is a private residence. There is a covered garage for two cars, and additional outdoor parking for four more.

Ground Floor: There are two entrance halls. To the right is the living room with access to a patio. To the left are the dining room and studio. There is a twin-bedded room (each bed is 103 x 193 cm) with a patio and an ensuite bathroom with tub and handheld shower head, sink and WC. The kitchen area is made of two rooms with its own patio. There are two refrigerators, freezer, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, and oven. There is also a laundry area with a washing machine and dryer.
First Floor: (20 stairs) There are four twin-bedded rooms (each bed is 103 x 193 cm), each with an ensuite bathroom with tub and handheld shower head, sink and WC. There are also 2 single bedrooms (each bed is 136 x 186 cm), each with an ensuite bathroom, one with tub and handheld shower head, sink and WC, and the other with a shower, sink and WC.

Overall:
We had a very pleasant week, and the owner made it easy with a packet of info. Whoever stays there needs to know it is a gracious, old, outdated place with some priceless and worn art, and needs someone who appreciates history more than modern appointments. The lawns were exquisite, and the housekeeper very kind. We loved all the outdoor spaces and spent much time there.
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds were absolutely beautiful, next to a world class golf course, and the lawn and pool area was blooming and beautiful. The owner met us at the door and could not have been more gracious and accommodating. He gave us restaurant suggestions and a contact for traveling to Tangiers and Morrocco for the day or overnight. He was so helpful and pleasant and his information excellent.
Enjoyed Least:
The bedrooms all had twin beds, not great for couples, although they were pushed together. This was a beautiful estate, but it needs some updating. Everything worked fine, but it was like visiting a place where I I kept envisioning how wonderful it would be to have the wherewithal to redo the decor and appliances...they were tired looking. Editor's Note: The kitchen has been renovated with new appliances; there is new outdoor furniture; the bedrooms and living areas have been updated. August 2014
Surrounding Area:
We were within easy driving distance from Gibraltar, Marbella, Ronda, and Estepona for day trips. It was also a very nice neighborhood. My husband and I enjoyed power walking to the beach, within a half mile.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Pueblo Nuevo was close, not to walk, but a good grocery store and some nice little restaurants.
Tips or Restaurants:
There were several small restaurants with really good food...a hole in the wall local place, Moncayo, had the best chicken and shrimp paella I have ever had. we ordered it two days in advance and it was extraordinary, although the place was small and kind of smoky.

Enjoyed Most:
The Villa was great! The grounds are so special and the gardens are beautiful; the outdoor eating area was great for lunch everyday. Used the owner's mother's beautiful dishes and linens - Just felt right at home! I would highly recommend it. The owner was gracious and helpful and filled us in on the family history and the town of Sotogrande.
Enjoyed Least:
That it is in a residential planned devlopment, and the nearest beach was a pay beach. The maid was a little "gruff"/protective of the proerty.
There were mosquitos around the pool area.
Surrounding Area:
We took the 1 hour fast ferry to Tangier. We drove to Tariffa to the well-known wind surfing beach about 15-20 minutes away where you can see Gibralter and Morocco.
Tips and Restaurants:
There are alot of toll roads to and from the town of Sotogrande.
