Q: Please comment on how quiet it is to stay at this villa and how you liked staying there overall. Did you hear traffic noise or any other noise. Are the flowers as beautiful as the web site pictures?
A: The location is very quiet and peaceful.There is no traffic noise at all as you are in a position some distance from the road.The only"noise" was a neighbour beautifully playing his guitar one day while we ate our lunch on the terrace.The views from the villa are spectacular from the numerous terraces and balconies.The flowers are beautiful and lovingly tended by the owner Rafael who came and swept the terrace and watered the plants every day.You will be living in amongst the local folk who are extremely warm and friendly,We were made very welcome and had a wonderful stay.
Q: Please comment on the difficulty of getting INTO the villa considering the 72 stairs. Is there any way to avoid the stairs by using a scooter or car?
A: There is no way to avoid the stairs. You could take a scooter part way up, from the road to the little piazza where the barber shop is, but then you have to take the stairs up from there. We counted 55 steps though, not 72.
A: Dear Fellow Traveler,
I wish I could tell you that the stairs could be avoided, however, they are the only way in and out of the villa. This property is absolutely spectacular, but this villa and most of the Amalfil Coast region involves stairs at some point or another.
I hope this information is helpful in choosing a location.
Q: I want to know about local transportation, in general.
A: There is local bus service into Amalfi and Positano and also buses that go through Positano into Sorrento that leave from the bottom of the hill about a two minute walk from Casa Fiorenza. They leave about every half hour in the morning, with a few buses that leave midday and then begin running about every half hour again about 3:30. We never rented a car. We had a driver bring us from our hotel in Naples to our rental in Praiano, where we were met by our contact person who let us into the villa. The contact person arranged the driver for us so they could coordinate our entry into the house. The cost of the car was about $120.00. We used the same service back into Naples for our departure, where we then got a train into Rome. We also took the local bus to Sorrento where we caught a train to Pompei to see the ruins.
We found that NOT having a car was an advantage since the roads are winding and there is little parking space once you get wherever you are going. We liked the local buses.

Q: How long does it take to get to Capri and is one day sufficient time to visit?
A: The trip to Capri from Casa Fiorenza probably only takes less than an hour. There are a few different ways you can do so--the first is to get a private boat to take you there from Praiano. The way we did it was to buy tickets at the travel agency in Praiano, and then a boat picks you up from the port at Praiano, and takes you to Positano where you will catch the larger boat to Capri. If you prefer, you can take a bus to Positano, as this is where most of the boats leave to go to Capri. It is a short (perhaps 45 minutes or so) and enjoyable ride to Capri. A day should be sufficient to see the island if you leave in the morning. My advice is to do a group boat tour around the island (about 13 Euro) which will take you to the blue grotto, etc. Also, I would advise you to take a bus to Anacapri where you can ride gondolas to the top of the island providing an amazing view.
