| 647 | 224572 | 224571 | 8/28/2006 9:23:45 AM | Area is very safe! just the roads are a bit scary because they are so thin. So walking on them is not an option. So you will either need a cab or a car of your own to get around. Having your own car if you are not used to driving in italy will be doubley as difficult for the same reason. We used this amazing guy Biaggio! He was a blast and had all the answers as far as where to go to eat etc... ask for him when you get there! Beds are a bit soft for my taste but good luck finding a bed you like in italy! Bathrooms are nice plenty of hot water but one of them backed up while we were there! Also a normal occurance in italy... But the showers were fine etc... negatives? Well yes a few kitchen not set up to feed the amount of people who can stay at the villa. I am a chef so that was disappointing... I just went out and bought what I needed and they re-imbursed me which was cool. Pool was a bit small but sufficient. Mosquitoes are around so be prepared! A/C is not included and we ran up quite a bill! An extra 400 euros I think! The deposit for security has to be all in cash which was also a pain cause exchanging that much money is a problem in italy if you do not have an account. You could end up going to 5 different banks just to change $5,000 and get hit with fee's etc... Otherwise we had a great time! | 2 | Answer | 2 | AskOurCustomersPublic | 0 | A: Area is very safe! just the roads are a bit scary because they are so thin. So walking on them is not an option. The house is gated and locked and the staff is there during the daytime if you're out and about. We never felt unsafe at anytime.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are very comfortable. Good mattresses - bedding changed daily. Bathrooms have modern showers and good water pressure. We were three families so we allocated certain rooms for kids and others for adults. My family stayed in the separate building where the views weren't as glamorous, but still very comfortable.
The biggest negative of the house was the street noise in the late evening. The driveway is at street level and the house is below - but there is only one road in Amalfi and everyone goes on it so you often hear voices or car traffic late into the evening. This is likely true at all homes on the amalfi drive.
We loved the house and the people working there. | 2 | Answer | 2 | AskOurCustomersPublic | 0 | A: The area is safe. We rented a car and a couple of times took the bus back and forth. The parking was easy to find (there is a fee to park) and the bus was convenient too, dropping us off not far from the villa. We did not find it was inconvenient to get around at all, but you do need a car for visiting Amalfi and the other coastal towns. | 2 | Answer | 2 | AskOurCustomersPublic | 0 | A: The villa is located outside of the main town of Amalfi on the winding road SS169 so you do have to drive or take the bus into town.
